Devers is a decent glove at 3B now, but he's looking like a 1B/DH type down the line. Like maybe even four, five years into this deal. That's a lot of change to be giving a soon to be one dimensional player. 

 

But he's young. And they didn't give him a NTC. Points for that.

I agree with your and Bob's comments about the RedSox seemingly lacking a direction.  

 

I don't mean a direction like rebuilding or contending, that's a fake choice....but they don't seem to have an approach to roster construction and consequences.  Like every year is an isolated one-year plan and you don't really have any ability to look at your 3-5 years windows.

 

Put your oars in the water and row towards something, don't just let the tide push you around and lament where you are.
