But again why? What is the point in having Westburg in AAA? Put him in the lineup tomorrow.

He made an error on the first ball hit to him.

Can't hit or field any worse than what we've currently had at their positions, but I can see wanting to get them a couple of games at Norfolk.

You'd hate for them to play a game, be sore, and have to sit out for a day or two while you play shorthanded.  I bet they'll be up pretty soon, especially Urias.

I'd say it's well worth the minimal risk. This team isn't going anywhere without some changes. Get these guys back in the lineup.

Three straight years with a choke job to end the season.  2021 they were the underdog but melted under the pressure in September.  They were great all regular season last year, then choked in October.  This year it unraveled in September and the stack of injuries have nothing to do with the offensive blundering right now.

Barring that much hoped for light switch flipping and the team suddenly playing well and advancing in the postseason, I can't imagine Hyde surviving this.  When the culture is broken the first thing to do is change leadership.

Almost made this post this AM about how theyve finished the last 3 years. Then went and looked up their Sept last year and it was quite good. But yeah the sweep in the playoffs countered much of that.

2022. In 2021 they lost 110 games.

One could argue they choked from OD on 2021.

I mean I don't know how much 2022 can be held against Hyde instead of being seen as his best managing job. Taking a team who yes added Adley but was otherwise not given any meaningful upgrades from a 100-loss roster and getting them that close to the playoffs while the front office publicly declared at the deadline they didn't think it was a playoff team was a pretty nice job. I don't think 2022 should impact how he's viewed for being the 2025 manager but definitely don't think 2022 should be held against him at all.

I'm not holding all of 2022 against him, just September.

Same goes for all the players who were here and also choked last October and again are choking in September.  Questions abound about all of them, but you can't fire all the players.

Yeah, 2022 was unexpected and probably a good job overall, but once the pressure started to rise they folded. It’s just starting to look like a trend. Turning it around here to prove that wrong would be nice.

I genuinely believe they can feel the tension Hyde exudes and it can affect some people.

Last year I thought it was logical that they were a young, inexperienced team and faded down the stretch and into the playoffs. It sucked but it was to be expected from a young team and a manager who'd never been there before.

There is no excuse for what is happening now, and it's logical to question what role Hyde plays in another late season fade.

They did not fade down the stretch last year.  Only the choke job in the playoffs.  Basically from the 2nd inning of Game 2 on.  Game 1 wasn't a choke, was well-played but a loss, and they took the lead in 1st of Game 2.  Then it all fell apart.

2. Intradivision Record

If the head-to-head record is also a tie, then the involved clubs’ records within their division will break the tie. This applies even if the tie is for a Wild Card spot between two teams that do not reside in the same division. The team with the superior intradivision record would win the tiebreaker.

"Struggled in the second half" seems like an understatement. He's been absolutely abysmal since the beginning of July, so its very easy to understand the dismay. I think projecting these struggles onto the entirety of his future goes too far, but thinking he's useless for the rest of this season isn't unreasonable. He's been worse than McCann for months now.

Hmm. Sounds pretty much like what I was saying in a game thread a few weeks back and you acted like I was a loon.

I remember you were complaining about a one-hop throw to 2B which I thought was a perfectly fine throw.  Don't recall saying anything in particular in defense of his recent hitting, other than August wasn't as abysmal as July.  Since then he's doubled down on the bad hitting with a few more weeks of really bad in September (not as bad as July, but worse than August) so instead of trending upward now its like 40% more of a bad stretch than at that time.  Things have gotten worse not better since then, but I still don't think he's one of the worst players in the league especially once you move past the horrendous July.

I'm going to see them at Yankee Stadium this Tuesday. It would be great if we were within 3 for the start of that series.
