This is a different team with Westburg and Urias back in the lineup. Westburg especially has solidified the infield defense at second. I really like their chances in the playoffs with these guys back.

Yeah, I've been holding on to hope for weeks that their best chance at a run was getting Westburg and Kjerstad back in the lineup. Basically reset to something close to what they had in April / May / June. The team just looked like the had fun together, played hard, enjoyed it all more. There is something to be said for chemistry. It's not everything but it helps. If only Grayson had been able to recuperate faster. But still hopeful. That middle relief corps is terrifying though...

91-71, 20 games over .500.

What a struggle it was, though. Glad to end the season on a high note heading into the playoffs.

Lost 4 games to .500 from their high point of 24 games over. Not the end of the world.

This is the first O's team to win 90 games in back-to-back seasons without Jim Palmer on the team.

They basically had one real difficult stretch from 9/4-9/18 where they went 3-9.

Other than that, the entire 2nd half was basically them treading water. No winning streaks longer than 3 games, but they also never lost more than 3 in a row.

Just an entire half of mediocre baseball.

French really did do a good job with the rotation considering all the injuries. They were talking about it on the broadcast. The pen was shaky but the nature of the pen is gonna be more volatile

I think this is more a tale of 2 seasons within one than a late season collapse. They were meh for a long time before this stretch. If they finish horribly in this last 9 games, then collapse will become more apt imo.

Not a late season collapse.

I think it's safe to say now that the injuries finally caught up with them. They get a pass with me after what they did this last week. Too bad Grayson didn't make it back because that would have been a helluva rotation in a playoff series.

Not a lot of detail here, but better than hearing him completely deflect and talk about market size (see previous ownership).

Or undermine the team and city/state with fake promises.

Remember when there was talk of having 7 and maybe even 8 guys finish with 20 HRs. We ended up with 3. Westy gets there if not hurt but I dont know that Mounty does even if healthy. Man did the power fall off. Rutsch and  OHearn in particular. Even Gunnar. How many he have in the 2nd half?

Mountcastle, Rutschman, and O'Hearn really killed the offense. Henderson really slowed down, too.

The HR drop wouldn't be as bad if they weren't so bad at manufacturing runs without the HR.

We do have to remember how much offense was down this year. Even with the offense slowing down big time they were still 10th overall in HRs over that time frame and were generally in the top half off most offensive categories. Though closer to the middle of the pack vs the top 10.

Mountcastle is a strange one. Still all very good savant numbers, but the power numbers just haven't been there. You could point to his swing at everything, rarely walk approach, but he's one of the team leaders in BA.

I fear the same thing will happen to Mayo.

They really need to find a happy medium with the wall. Doesn't have to come in to where it was before, but keeping it where it is will surely destroy most RH HR totals.

Cowser doesnt win GG in LF. Os are gonna get shutout in awards IMO. Cowser has a shot at ROY but my guess is Gil wins it.

Silver Slugger finalists get announced tomorrow. Gunnar will be a finalist but lose to Witt. Expect Santander will be a finalist but will lose out to Soto, Judge, and either Yordan or Rooker.

Henderson and Santander do get Silver Slugger nods. Rooker and Alvarez both are listed as DH. Santander has a shot to beat out Duran or Riley Greene for the 3rd spot.
