If it's anything like Rodriguez's injury last year, probably shouldn't expect to see him in Baltimore this season. GR went exactly 3 months from his last pre-injury start to his first start at Aberdeen.

John Means will start a rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie on Thursday, the Orioles say.
Nice to see Means get back on the mound. Maybe he can help some in September.

Means threw two solid innings last night then gave up a leadoff single in the third. Threw 28 pitches, 17 for strikes. Good first game back.

It had to feel good for him to get back on the mound. Nice to see he did well.

John Angelos is paying him $2.9M this season. I’d bet he’s texting him daily pressuring him to get back. Probably hourly.
Yeah I dont think anyone, fans or those in the org, are counting on Means to do anything in '23. Will be gravy if he does. Having him feel good and remain healthy is all that matters right now

I saw Means threw 4 innings and 57 pitches yesterday allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and no walks. He struck out 4.
This IMO is real progress. I suspect they stretch him out to about 70 -75 pitches in his next start which should be Friday or Saturday. He seems like he is getting closer to maybe helping the Orioles down the stretch.

Even if he's only giving us 5 or 6 innings I think he can be a big boost to the rotation. I know there's a lot of doubt as to what he can contribute but every Cinderella story needs a miracle.

I think every Os fan would be on cloud 9 if Means could come up and give us 5 or 6 innings!!!

I think the most you can expect from Means this season is 3-4 innings.
I'd actually just use him out of the BP for the rest of the season. Especially in the postseason.

Doesn't appear, though, as if he's being used in the minors for a relief start. I think I heard he threw 76 pitches in his last start, but what worries me is the velocity. His fastball is checking in at around 91 mph now.

He sat around 91-92 in 2019 and he put up 3.6 WAR. Not to say that the velo is nothing to worry about, but he can be successful at this velocity. But command is usually questionable coming back from TJ. He's going to need a bit of tuning up.
