Better make it 2025.

I mean we should probably just DFA him for the 40 man spot.
Or we can be happy that he seems to be reasonably on track for coming back mid year as was always planned, while recognizing that TJ return isn't automatic and things can always go wrong.

+/- June 15th for his first start. And then we will see what feel he has for his changeup.

Consider the source. Two broken records.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

You aren't being pessimistic in the right way, he'll be ready once he's a Nashville Oriole

This is one of those wierd things where we think common "sources" can't be wrong...
..but MLBTR has Means listed in the post 2023 (for the 2024 season) FAs. He's a FA after the 2024 season, not after the 2023 season. The Orioles will control him through ARB3 for the 2024 season. I'm guessing it's a bad read on his contract (which he signed last year after having TJS, that was an odd case), but that contract was for his 2022 arbitration (first year) but, because of the lockout, everything got bumped well to the right. The 2-year deal covers 2022 and 2023.
Brad or someone, let them know.
EDIT: Fixed now.

So the thinking was roughly Mid June for a potential return. If that was somewhat close wouldn't we be hearing some things by now? Any news on him?

Mid-June was on the optimistic side, but not extremely so.
Do think we should be expecting to hear something about Means pretty soon. Figure he'll have some extended ST type experience and then close to a full 30-day rehab assignment to get stretched out and built up.

Eric Birdland reported that he was making his 1st start in extended spring training on Monday or Tuesday. I have no idea if that actually happened as I'm not on the Twitter but either way it sounds like he's very close to pitching in live games.

Yeah they had pics of him in extended ST walking in the OF the other day. I think we would have heard if he didnt throw. Realistically, hes back sometime in Aug but hes not gonna be much of a factor. He will be heavily restricted
He pitched on the side, didn’t get in the game. Not sure if that was the plan all along but feel like we would’ve heard if there was a setback.
