Since the main media is playing hands off with what is going on, all you can read about is speculation from Twitter posts. She told him she was 18. Her mother said she was of age. The mother said it was okay if he saw her, etc.

And she has a kid that is around toddler age.  But I don't know if DR has any exception for either close-in-age or good faith belief.

I thought Franco may have gotten benched for not hustling or something. This seems like a mess that was made worse by all the chatter on social media. MLB will get to the bottom of it pretty quickly.

I read an article about the Wander situation from the Athletic. Seems that most of the Twitter rumors were coming out of the DR. Franco apparently went live on Instagram from the Rays' clubhouse over the weekend to deny the allegations.

From the way the story was originally portrayed, it sounded as if she was 14 when this happened and he was already 22. Now it appears as if this happened four or more years ago, which would have made Franco 17 or 18 at the time. I don't know if this is true and I also don't know if it would help him at all legally, but ages 17 or 18 as compared to 14 is about the difference between a high school senior and a freshman.

I think the age of consent in DR is 16. My son who is on Twitter much more than myself said that he read a post that stated that Franco stopped seeing her when he turned 18. But who knows? That's why MLB had to step in.We'll know if Franco is in potentially bigger trouble if he gets placed on administrative leave.

I think it’s safe to say we don’t know much of anything with regards to Wander Franco. My guess is there is much more to this story.

I just read an article that the age of consent in the DR is 18. The administrative list is probably hours away for Franco.

If he did something stupid like share lurid images with children, he's toast regardless of whether or not families were actually blackmailing him. 

 

Basically, if Franco gave them a reason to blackmail him, he could be in for a world of hurt regardless.
