There's no crying in Baseball.

The Rays have been good every year and they'll be good - without Franco - in 2024.

Their future Infield is their top 5 prospects.

I am/was willing to wait until everything settles and facts come out, but this doesn't bode well for his future. If you think you can get this behind you, you show up, do what you need to do. When you don't show, all action can be taken against you by MLB.

He has to be indefinitely suspended without pay at this point right? Nobody, including MLBPA, is going to stick up for him if he doesn't show up in court.

Crazy fall.

I have a pretty similar stance, however, his recent actions are making it increasingly difficult for me to presume any innocence on his part. Like Mackus stated, his career is more than likely over and the Rays will be looking at recovering all the money they can. You can't defend yourself if you don't show up to face the charges.

Apparently, Wander showed up for questioning this morning with his new legal team and was arrested after [the interview].

I read on MLB trade rumors that a mother of one of his victims was arrested as well today.

Tough read for me.

This poor girl seemingly had no chance for a normal life.

While her mother is a toxic pile of crap, Wander's messages meet the definition of grooming.

So, so gross. And yes, incredibly unfortunate for the girl.

Plus, I had no idea Franco was married until I read the article. Not that it makes that much of a difference, but it only makes the story more sorted.

IMO it means they can toss the Romeo & Juliet angle into the trash.

Yeah, this isn't a Shakespearean tragedy.

Where Rays will play in 2025 one of many questions after Trop damage

About the only thing that seems certain is that the team won’t be able to open the 2025 Major League Baseball season at home as planned on March 27.

Where the Rays play, how long they are displaced and what repairs beyond a new custom roof are needed to return to Tropicana Field — until the planned 2028 opening of their new stadium on an adjacent site — are among myriad things they don’t know, but hope to address in the coming weeks.

I hear Oakland might have a stadium available.

Interesting.

Wrongly assumed they would have the roof fixed by then.

I'd guess a close-by spring training site.  Tampa is "fortunate" enough to be near several.  Not sure how they'd deal with ticketing and what not....

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Give us Yandy Diaz and they can use Ed Smith Stadium.

Not ideal, but couldn't they theoretically play at the Bucs' stadium?  Or is the configuration unable to adapt to baseball?

I’ve seen people say the dimensions wouldn’t work. Steinbrenner field where the Yankees play spring training is possible.

Just play the remaining seasons without a roof?

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I think the issue with that is there's no drainage since it's a dome.
