Jumanji: The Next Level wasn't quite as good as the previous entry, but it's still better than it has any right to be.  These movies do make good use of the premise of being inside a video game, and they're well acted.

Also note if you hurry you can get Starz for 99 cents a month for 3 months on Amazon.  I saw they had this one and saw the deal, it's cheaper than a rental, and now I get to watch American Gods.

Between The World and Me is incredibly powerful.

Check it out if you have HBO. It's only 75 minutes.

Watched Lincoln last night, haven't seen that since it came out 8 years ago.  As good as ever.  DDL is amazing!

The George Washington in the bathroom story is still one of my favorite jokes in a movie

I recently watched The Hateful 8 again in full, for the first time since it was in theaters.

Man, it's not good. Too much of the dialogue is seemingly on repeat. Everyone spoke in a redundant manner. People just don't converse that way, doubt they did 120 years ago either.

Thought I made a top QT movies at some point, but, guess not. Anyway, "8" is now at the bottom when I'm sure at the time I had it in the middle with recency bias.

1. Pulp Fiction

2. Inglorious Basterds

3. Reservoir Dogs

4. Django

5. Once Upon a time in Hollywood

6. Kill Bill vol. 1

7. Jackie Brown

8. Kill Bill vol. 2

9. Hateful Eight

Well people don’t generally converse in the way that QT writes dialog in general. But yeah H8 was my least favorite QT movie for sure.

True, and I love QT. Like having Jackie Brown as my 7th favorite out of 9, still puts it in probably my top 100 all time favs. No one else can write dialogue that drives a movie like he does. I think some of the dialogue in his films probably comes from actual conversations he's had which makes it fun being a fly on the wall and listening in. If he did another hour of just around the table conversation in the diner scene in the beginning of Reservoir Dogs, I'd have loved every minute of it.

I think he just missed the mark in Hateful 8. A lot of the dialogue was just characters calling each other by first and last name over and over again, a lot. Repeating the same words, or synonyms, a lot. Did the whole letter from Lincoln bit twice. Things that just make it longer, not move it forward.

It's been in my backlog for a long time, but I finally watched Tombstone.  Val Kilmer stole every scene he was in, wow.

One of my absolute all-time favorite roles. Can't imagine just getting around to seeing Tombstone, glad you enjoyed it. It's on cable all the time and is very rewatchable mostly for Val. Last time I had it on was the first time I noticed that it's Stephen Lang (bad guy from Avatar among lots of other roles) playing the irredeemable coward Ike.

There aren't enough superlatives to throw at Kilmer for his work, just so amazingly iconic. Every line he says is memorable.

I saw the Bob Odenkirk movie “Nobody” yesterday. Pretty good. Extremely violent. Some pretty funny moments too. Worth seeing.
