That turned into probably to most professional model of sportsmanship I've ever seen. Galaraga was visually stunned, but didn't explode in a raging fit. Joyce owned up to it right after the game. He felt terrible and didn't try to hide from the media, or justify it. He admitted fault 100%, which most can't do these days. The next day Galaraga brought the lineup card to Joyce at the plate, shook his and hand and said "it's ok". The crowd cheered, Joyce had tears.
A lot of life lessons can be taught by those few moments.
