So much for getting him for a year.

I never thought the 1 year was going to happen. The middle of their lineup is loaded.

Seems like a great deal for Upton. 6/132.5 plus a opt out after two if he goes nuts in Detroit.

The opt-out is conspicuously absent from the Davis deal. A Boras oversight, or more likely just Davis telling him to make it happen, with or without the opt-out.

6 years for 22.5 a year? Sorry...no thanks. I'll keep Davis and his 8 billion of deferred money until the year 2131.
Detroit looks SICK though!

Not an oversight...
Based on what DD said, it sounds like the O's wouldn't give him one... so now we can compare not only what Davis and Upton are making now, we can also compare how much they're each making in 3 years....

Detroit is crazy.
I mean, Illitch can do whatever he wants with his money so good for Tigers, their fans and Justin Upton....but seriously, who else is even talking to him?
Posted 19 January 2016 - 12:38 AM
Would have preferred him to Davis but I'm okay with it.
Posted 19 January 2016 - 08:44 AM
Greatly prefer Davis on the deal he signed to Upton on this deal. Same goes for Cespedes, assuming he gets something similar.
Posted 19 January 2016 - 08:54 AM
So the Tigers trade away Price and Cespedes at the deadline, netting Daniel Norris, one decent prospect, and some long shot type guys.
Turn around and sign Zimmerman and Upton. They get to keep their 1st round pick since it's protected, as well. They'll give up their 2nd and 3rd round picks for signing those two compensated guys.
Pretty good series of events, all things considered. They're paying a ton for the guys they signed, Upton in particular seems like a bit of an overspend, but they'll be set up to contend like they hoped to last season before things went awry.

He's probably about to get canned, too.

Miguel Cabrera hasn't swung and missed a pitch in almost a week.

I really wanted the O's to land Stewart in 2015 but first name Christin and he is killing it. A+ with 15 homers already and a 911 ops. I don't know why but the so so MLB players, off springs always intrigue me If DJ started of like Christin has we would be ecstatic.
