At this point I think dude is gonna end up being right here and they'll wait to call up Holliday and Mayo until late enough that they still have rookie eligibility in 2025.

That's 45 days, so could call them up on August 17th. Then need to keep them under 130 AB. Gunnar came up August 31st and got 114 AB.

I figured they might keep Holliday down long enough still be eligible for ROY next year. Did think Mayo would make his debut sooner.

So I just looked at his numbers expecting to see some ugly stat line, and it truly isn't that bad. 4.53 ERA, and 1.4 WAR. 4.42 FIP. By comparison Kremer is at -.4 WAR for the season.

The ugly part is the 1.53 WHIP and high walk rate. Maybe they feel a change in pitch usage or a small mechanical adjustment can help him. Arietta had a very similar issue when he went to the Cubs and having him stand in a different part of the rubber helped him solve all of his issues.

Let's see what happens.

His ERA+ is actually better than Eflin's!

But his FIP is much worse and his Savant is terrible.

Rarely see Mack this down.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Do Holliday's previous 14ish days not count or did you forget that? I know there are weird rules when things get reversed quickly, like Holliday coming up then back down, is why I ask.

I'm sure the Marlins are quite happy at the moment.  They got two quality prospects for a mediocre pitcher.  God help Elias if Norby and Stowers develop into solid, everyday players over the next year or two and Rodgers winds up being another Irvin.

I forgot that, thanks.  Its just days on roster, so Holliday would have to wait until the very end of August or early September.  And the at bats still would need to be under 130 total.

Stowers is a AAAA guy. Maybe he turns into another Mike Yaz. He never really had a role here.

Norby likely phased out by Westburg / Holliday / Gunnar but still had enough value.

I mean his ERA the last 2 months has been solid.

He has 2 years of team control

He was great in '21 and is still only 26

Im trying to talk myself into something. Lol

I'm fine dealing those guys.

I'm not fine acquiring Rogers.  I'd have been unenthusiastic if we got him for basically nothing.  That we paid a moderately steep price to acquire him just makes me more upset.

I thought for sure Elias would at least come out of this with a 2nd tier starter.  Wasn't confident about him getting one of the studs but come on man, you could have done better than Rodgers.

Are we prepared for a 2025 rotation of GRod, Eflin, Rogers,Kremer, and Povich/McDermott.

Rogers for Stowers seems fair. Adding Norby is infuriating

I think its entirely on the development team to salvage this.  Credit to Elias and his team if they saw something and wanted him and come through on it.  But its a big gamble and I don't think a buy low opportunity is really what we need right now.  Not a good enough chance of getting solid production out of Rogers.

Maybe they think he just needs to change his pitch selection or something, but looks to me from Savant that basically everything gets tagged pretty similarly.  Fingers crossed, hope is about all we have left I think.

Only threw 27 innings last year. Already at 105 this year. Career high was 136 back in 2019 in the minors.

How much juice does he have left this year?

Some people claim he has a very good change. Maybe they can work with something there.

Seems like a toss up at best that this helps this year though.

I wouldn't have even given them Stowers for that guy.

I can confirm that Ricker is also not happy with this move. In case you all were wondering

Eh. Basically the O's have too many ready prospects and maybe they can fix Rogers.

Not very inspiring.

This doesn't discuss how the O's need SP help right now to fight for a division crown and eventually make a postseason start or three.  This move means Kremer is #4 and Rogers is #5.

I can buy in on all the other ancillary stuff.  Maybe they can fix him and he'll be good next year (very skeptical of an immediate turnaround).  Maybe Stowers really isn't anything and Norby was very blocked.  But all that doesn't help us right now and we need help right now.
