Yep, except it's a bigger gamble (have to win ROY the next season) rather than a sure thing (minus the odds of losing the time if the player is top-2 ROY) simply based on time for less reward. A pick is great but a 7th year of control of a quality player is more valuable.
Yeah, which is why it should be nothing more than a footnote when considering when to bring prospects up. Besides, between CB picks and a likely pick for losing Burnes, and maybe Santander (and maybe Eflin in ‘26) the Orioles should have plenty of extra draft picks that they don’t need to play ROY Roulette.
