I don't get this trade at all. Rodgers stats look very pedestrian, if not lousy. They say he's pitched better over the past month but that's a lot to hang your faith on. Giving up both Norby and Stowers was way too much for this guy. Not that either had much of a future in Baltimore but they could have gotten a 2nd tier starter for that package. Rodgers, to me, is worse than Kremer. It seems like Elias was thinning out the herd more than acquiring a decent starter.
Norby & Stowers for Trevor Rogers

With Norby gone, does this mean Holliday is on his way back up, I hope so because I rather not see any more of Urias
It seems like, based on what they saw during his limited call up, that they're determined to have Holliday spend the entire season at Triple A. It seems clear that they feel he needed to make some major adjustments with him.

Rogers is better than Irvin and currently better than Povich, I agree, but those guys aren't in the rotation. I don't know if he's better than Suarez, if he is it's not by much. We needed a clearly better SP than him, I think (and think everyone agrees just a question as to how much better).

At this point I think dude is gonna end up being right here and they'll wait to call up Holliday and Mayo until late enough that they still have rookie eligibility in 2025.
That's 45 days, so could call them up on August 17th. Then need to keep them under 130 AB. Gunnar came up August 31st and got 114 AB.

The ugly part is the 1.53 WHIP and high walk rate. Maybe they feel a change in pitch usage or a small mechanical adjustment can help him. Arietta had a very similar issue when he went to the Cubs and having him stand in a different part of the rubber helped him solve all of his issues.
Let's see what happens.

That's disappointing. Gimme a 2012 Manny call up and give this team a jolt

Yeah, I'm kind of not very stoked by giving up Norby and Stowers for a guy who has posted a 1.5+ WHIP in each of his last 2 "more" healthy seasons. But he's in the mold they seem to like a lot and always think they can develop... 6' 5" and left handed.
I like that Eflin doesn't give away a lot of free bases / runners with walks, and if the Orioles defense plays again like it did before the last month, I think that can pay off big. Rogers is a leap of faith addition to me.

Could you imagine if we didn't have pretty high confidence and trust in the organization's abilities to help guys be better how badly we'd all dislike this trade?
