I'll believe it when the Orioles make an announcement. Remember the first time we were told the lease agreement was a done deal?

I get it… but it’s safe to celebrate.

Thing is it was the Orioles who announced the lease was a done deal months before it actually was. I find it more trustworthy that this isn't coming from them.

Who knows how the next owners will be, but I'm sure willing to see new blood.
Now that this is official, I feel elation.
Working in the Warehouse (now 20+ years ago as basically a kid), I saw the dysfunction that existed because of the Ownership. It was something to behold.

Running this site, and the interactions I've had with the O's in these years... not good.

I will say, I respect many of the things (often silent) the Angelos family has done around Baltimore, and I applaud John for hiring Elias, and taking this sale.

I won't kick them further, just glad there is finally new blood.

The new owners will probably have their own issues... but they also figure to be normal new owners.... where they throw money around, are excited about their new toy, and try to win.  That will be fun.

Would also be great if they move on from many within the Orioles organization (not baseball ops) and brought in some new blood.
Though to be fair to some of them, I know they've been hampered at times from above.

From what I've read, the Angelos family owns 80 percent of the Orioles. With the new ownership supposedly buying 40 percent now and the remaining stake after Peter Angelos's death, I'm wondering if there is a provision in the agreement requiring the minority investors to sell their shares of the team to Rubinstein's group as well.

They better have their legal ducks in a row.  If at any point they transition the Team to John to "facilitate the sale" or whatever, he can pull out after the approval, even if the new group isn't part of the charade.  It's not done until it's done.  I'd suspect this is the last thing they try.

Sorry, but it has little-to-nothing to do with this.

Of course it does.

Of course it does.

Im not saying we are ever gonna be a big buyer but the lack of any long term deals or extensions. 100% believe this all played a big part of that

I'm sure Rubeinstein and his investors have very sharp lawyers on retainer. Much sharper, I'd imagine, than John Angelos.

The only thing that sucks about this is the Ravens losing and me not being able to blame the timing on trust fund baby trying to leech off their glory.

You won’t be missed, trust fund baby. Not even a little bit.

Couldn’t imagine better news as an Orioles fan, other than winning a World Series. Which I now have legitimate hope they can do.

The only thing John Angelos will be long-term is, well, John Angelos.

Not really sure what this all means but if ink is on paper it won’t be easy to get out of

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Well, this announcement certainly upstaged National Croissant Day. Typical.
