The title kinda makes me nervous: "The Orioles Prepare for Private Equity Control"
But sounds like it's just a couple PE guys individually and not a PE group.
As part of the deal, the group will start off owning about 40 percent of the club. The group will buy Angelos’ remaining stake following the death of Peter Angelos, the family patriarch, who has been incapacitated for years by an illness. MLB owners will receive details of the sale at their annual meeting in Orlando next week. And while Rubenstein and Arougheti have reached an agreement with Angelos, there isn’t a timetable for the deal to close.
What’s not known, of course, is how this deal will impact the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.

That was Ourand's very first story published on Puck. Quite an auspicious beginning!

Good.
I'll wait out the details like everything else, because they've worked really hard to avoid this, but if this closes out, good news for Oriole fans.

I like Ourand. But literally no other MLB reporter is discussing this. Not even anyone local
Bloomberg was the one who broke the story about Rubenstein back in Dec. This sort of news isn't the kind of thing that gets around in the circles regular baseball beat writers run in.

Not sure a couple private equity ghouls will be better than the Angelos era, but we shall see.

If it's just a couple billionaires buying it as a fun toy to try and win trophies with, then I'm not too concerned. So long as it's completely outside the realm of their PE business. Steve Cohen is a hedge fund guy, and clearly that side of his business has no impact on his desire to hand out blank checks for the Mets.

First move give Blake Snell $800 million
fwiw, I don't want Blake Snell on this team.

Steve Cohen sold the Mets to David?
