Very highly likely to be unsustainable but it's nice that the offense has bailed out the bad pitching.

Hopefully once the offense cools down the pitching will right itself.

I think getting hits can be variable during a long season but working counts and drawing walks should be sustainable.  OBP is very important because it keeps runners on base consistently and even if some hitters are struggling for hits, there's always that possibility of them going deep and still driving in runs.  Not a fan of the Dave Kingman school of hitting but he was a perfect example of that.

Os are near the top of the leaderboard in many offensive categories. They are currently #1 in OBP. Refreshing to see Os teams work ABs and take walks. Something that was never the case even in the good times between 2012-2016.

Yeah, I have no complaints regarding the batting approaches the players are taking, they are much more disciplined and seem to have a plan when they bat.  Borgschulte and Fuller have done great job so far.

I’m ready to claim that Elias has a really good program in place for money balling the pitching staff. Especially the bullpen. Whatever they are targeting is working. They get ridiculous surplus value out of these guys. Credit where it’s due here.

Gunnar has a higher wRC+ and OPS+ than Mountcastle. Still feels like Gunnar is scuffling a bit while with Mounty it feels like he has been meh but not horrible since the hot start. Just shows what taking walks and the refusal to take walks does overall to your offense. Mounty has one of the 3 worst walk rates in all of baseball while Gunnar has one of the 5 best in baseball.

Wonder if they'll give Rutschman a day off at allthis year?

He's played every inning of every game so far this season.  I'm not sure I've ever heard of a catcher doing that for a week, yet alone four.  He's been the DH in 7 of those 24 games, but that's still a huge workload.  Have to wonder if exhaustion is any part of his current 4-for-29 slump.

There were two off days last week, so I doubt that's been a factor yet. But being in the midst of a 19 game stretch, I do think he needs more than just a day of DH-ing here soon.

Realmuto has had 4 games off (he PH in one).  Contreras has had 4 games off (PH in three of them).  Murphy has had 4 games off.  Just to cherry pick some of the other major catchers.  Adley has DH'd more than all of those guys, so maybe they're considering those as de facto days off.

Undoubtedly they will. Take advantage now that its both early in the season and its not humid yet.

Adley is slumping but I do not think it is because he is tired.  I think between the off days and the DH days he has gotten enough rest.

Winning is so much fun, and, in some ways it makes me even more bitter that we didn't get a high quality starter and big bat in the off-season. Such a waste!

Fantastic April

The way they are doing it is not close to sustainable. I was higher than anyone on this team entering the season but they cant keep being this sloppy and poor defensively. Nor can Hyde continue to overmanage and overuse the BP the way he does. The good thing is they've built up a bit of a cushion. Wins are wins. Have to change some things though. IM not overly worried about the SP or the offense at this point. There are some issues there but nothing most all teams wont go through throughout the season. Defense is something you should be able to bring every night.

Playing very well despite not getting much of any production from Henderson, Santander, and Mountcastle aside from the A's series. Adley went through a bit of a slump, too. Really carried by Mateo, Hays, and Mullins to an extent.

19-9. 147 runs scored, 122 runs against. 28 games.

Last year won the 19th game in the 46th team game to improve to 19-27 (May 27, Adley's 6th game).

Last year scored the 147th run in the 42nd team game.

Last year allowed the 122nd run in the 31st team game.

Hitting is doing well. Pitching has some work to do.

I like the fight in this team a lot.

I do not like the pitching much.

May is going to tell us a lot.

.500 over the next 28 games would do wonders for this team’s outlook.

Not for nothin but we can still make some deadline deals!

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
