It is a refreshing change from watching the other teams year after year nab young, HS studs who could develop into super-stars while the Orioles take college OF's. I'm reminded of the quote Ray Lewis said after Joe Flacco's first practice when he said, "We've got one! We finally got one".

So young looking but you look at those broad shoulders and you know there is a lot of physicality left in that body.
Matt Hobgood had broad shoulders.

I just loved Matt Holliday. Clutch, key cog in that Cards championship machine. Can’t believe we took his kid. I’m ecstatic.
I'm blown away by Jackson's comment that has already shagged fly balls in Camden Yards on one of his Dad's road trips when he was 12.

He was also the Gatorade National Player of the Year. Uh oh.

Please don't speak that name in a draft thread, or at least preface it with a trigger warning. Bleh.

Trea is probably pissing all over himself in excitement. Prob still wants us to sign Matt and have him and Jackson do Ken Griffey and Griffey Jr all over again.

I admit, I had to look to see when Matt last played. 2018. Damn these drafted kids are young.

Yes and no. Gotta remember this isn't like even just 10 years ago. This kids now are playing ball, in a lot of cases almost year round since about age 12. Just way more exposure and experienced than just a decade ago.

If anyone hasn't seen it, nice interview here. I especially liked his comment about how to deal with failure.

$8.19 million.
What is slot again? Sounds like he took a slight discount.

Agree, that’s hopefully going to be useful somewhere. There were some interesting guys late.

Certainly may be some bias creeping in because its the Os selection but I now believe he was the best player in the draft. Ahead of Jones. Like the bat a good bit better. Feels safer but still has immense upside.

Real good job by the Orioles getting the deal done so soon. Now let's see them put the savings to go use.

A few bucks (literally $600) more than Jones got with full slot for #2. Assuming the reports of both guys' bonuses are accurate.
