$4.9 million, about $1.2 million below slot.

Less than I thought.  I'd have the floor at 5.2M.  Same player either way.

Basically #9 money. For comparison Kjerstad got $5.2M, or #8 money.

Not that it means anything, I was just curious.

Not worth going underslot for me. I get that he was viewed as the 2nd best college bat or best for some people but I don’t think they are going to do much with a hair over $1m saved. None of these other picks stand out as you couldn’t have gotten them without overpaying by a large amount.

The whole draft was just ok. I don’t have a lot of complaints or excitement. We will see what happens. Drafting then is only half of the process.

I still think they are. Most of the savings going to Trimble.

Trimble feels like the biggest overslot candidate for sure.

Most of the money likely spent. Ciolek hinted that Rhodes and Trimble would be over slots. The mystery is how much they value the NC st. Commit in the 20th.

Per Roch, Cowser is playing his first game today, he singled in his first AB and homered his second.

Rebuild really does seem easier when your top five pick has actually played in an organized game

I think it is very important for this kid to do well, almost right from the start.

That is a really weird (but good) slash line.  Tons of singles.  Tons of walks.  No strikeouts  No XBH.

It's like a Luis Hernandez level of power with a Barry Bonds walk rate.  Have there been any highly successful slap hitters with elite walk rates?  That's basically Ichiro with walks.

Obviously a small sample and that doesn't jive with his numbers from college, so I'm just marveling at the oddity of it all and not making any prognostications.

Absolutely love Cowsers swing. That beautiful LH stroke.
