I have to believe that was a typo in Mike B's post, and his ankle was NOT in shape to take the stress. I think Stanley's performance in the Raiders game attests to that. Apparently the initial surgery just was not successful in solving the problem.
IMO I'd say it had to be the same injury. I remember reading the practice report against the Football Team, and he was apparently stonewalling and man handling Young, Sweat and Payne. I don't see how you go from that, to getting destroyed by LV in week 1. Maybe something didn't heal right and presented a weak spot, or limited his range of motion. Who knows. Doesn't matter, he had surgery again. Now all we can do is hope he comes back as strong as he was before.
Everyone kind of saw the writing on the wall when he said he was going to try rehab first. I feel like that almost always ends in having the surgery anyway.
