He knows his body. If he felt a pop it's going to be tough for even the most optimistic to put a smile on that. Get the imaging done and hope for the best.

I am excited to see HK but I am disappointed for Mounty.  I was opposite the on deck circle on Monday and I could see Ryan trying to loosen his shoulder.  I think this has been going on for about a week.

Here is the article in the Banner.  It looks like Kjerstad will only be activated if a replacement for Mountcastle is needed.

Kjerstad wont play much unless he is needed. Tough spot to bring him in. I would expect to roll with the vets from here out. And at this point Im counting Westburg as a vet. Hes fairly established.

I think Kjerstad will mostly be a PH off the bench.  I'd be surprised if he starts much.  I'd basically never play him ahead of Santander or O'Hearn and would lean towards Hicks, Urias and Westburg over him at DH more often than not.  I'd play him over Frazier.  I wouldn't start him this series.

I think this is right. He does hit lefties extremely well so maybe Santander at 1B and Kjerstad in RF against LHP until Mounty is back.

But where? He's not a plus defender either in the outfield or at first base. Can play right, but you're probably better off with Santander out there and O'Hearn is better at first base. This is not the "see what the kid can do" time of season.

Who promoted Kjerstad?

You don't think that that person has a lot to do with how he's used?

Lets flip this around. Say we were in he same situation but on the winning side  and we had Felix on the mound. If a manager trotted out a kid for his first at bat in that situation we would have been laughing our asses off at that manager. Sure at this point in the season there no "easy" way to give Kjerstad his first at bat. But there's a big space between "easy" and what he did last night.

 

Honestly before he stepped to the plate did anybody think he was actually going to get a hit? The chances of getting a hit there were probably higher for anybody else on the roster (pitchers excluded...lol).
