I know...like this guy....right?
I can believe they had a FV grade on Kjerstad equal or higher than anyone else they could have drafted at 2. Martin or the pitchers may have had a better current grade.

Love to see it. Norfolk's lineup might be scarier than the Orioles' right now.

I wonder if Heston will take Cowser’s spot, if he is coming to Baltimore.

My first thought was Holliday taking his spot (roster, not position of course). But he's cooled off over the past week or so, so maybe they want to see how he handles his first mini-slump before a promotion.

Maybe so but Cowser is needed in Baltimore.

Kjerstad's AAA debut was postponed due to the bad air quality in Scranton.

Would you trade Kjerstad for Torkelson straight up right now?
They're ruining that kid. There was no freakin way he was ready to be promoted last season.
(Nope)

In that draft, MANY people were suggesting he was ready to hit in the middle of a Major League lineup right away.
MLB success is hard whoever you are and you can have an All-Star team of underperforming "stars" right now. It's harder when you lack the experience and maturity of the larger group.
That said, I'm comfortable suggesting something is going really wrong in Detroit with their Organizational philosophies. They have a lot of guys that seem to struggle with both performance and injury.
Wouldn't trade him for Torkleson, I would trade him for Jordan Walker. (if only we'd drafted 17th)

Btw Ive asked this before, of all the realistic options at 2 whos ahead of Kjerstad right now? I havent looked at the bottom half of round 1 or round 2 and below but Kjerstad has to have some of the best helium right now in the entire class. Stunning considering he didnt really start his career until the middle of last year

Law:
56. Heston Kjerstad, Baltimore Orioles
Previous ranking: Unranked
I think we’re finally seeing the player the Orioles drafted back in 2020, before a myocarditis diagnosis wiped out his 2021 season. He’s looked very good this year and continues to make contact at higher rates even as he’s moved up the ladder to Triple A, with just a 17.5 percent strikeout rate at that level – lower than his strikeout rate in his last full year at the University of Arkansas. Kjerstad has always made very hard contact, which the Orioles hoped would become 25-30 homer power as they worked with him on his hitting, and that seems to be where he is now. There are some small red flags in his Triple-A line – he’s chasing stuff out of the zone too much and still has struggles with same-side breaking balls – but it’s great to see him doing the stuff Baltimore expected of him when they made him the second overall pick three years ago.

That ranking seems way off to me.
As in about 25 spots too low?

He will be taking Mountcastle’s spot on the roster. On his way to Baltimore. Excited to see him, but bummed this is the reason why.

No. This is exactly why you have depth like this, cuz when the crap hits the fan, you've got a chance to pull from the top of the deck and have it mean something.
