No doubt in my mind that Kremer's a keeper. With him and Means, we have 2 starting pitchers to build with, and we should have 3 others in the minors. Obviously, we're counting on Hall and GrayRod. Kremer doesn't get talked about much, but I think he's the surest one of all of them.

He showed me something yesterday. I do not think he had his A game and he stayed in the fight and pitched 4 really good innings after struggling in the first.

Interesting piece on Kremer and his spin rates in The Athletic ($): https://theathletic....eball-sleepers/
Don't know if the quick video link will work, but here: https://cdn.theathle...6_36_06.mp4?_=3
Small sample:
If you mirror your spin, you’re more likely to get good ride on the fastball and good drop on the curveball, both things that will move the needle on any number that hopes to capture the quality of a pitchers’ movement and velocity. Still, Kremer is projected to have an ERA over 5.00, and with above-average stuff that mirrors well, and only slightly below-average command (96 Command+), the Orioles’ starter could be undervalued by those numbers.

I think Kremer has a chance to stick around for a long while. I am a little skeptical on Akin, but I think Kremer and Means have a chance to team up in the Orioles rotation.

MASN: Dean Kremer on his strong outing
Kremer got a break or two due to the wind, but he was getting better in inning 2 and 3. He looked strong, and I was wondering if they were going to try to stretch him. They didn't and it worked out because Zimmerman also looked very good.

#orioles option Dean Kremer to alternate site. It’s based on 2 off days next week. Don’t need 5th starter with off days Monday and Thursday. No corresponding move announced.
Kremer has to love this. He takes the ball on short rest, does well and gets optioned. I know it happens everywhere but it has to sting for the player.

It's still an upgrade from spending 10 days doing nothing and potentially getting rusty

They could have gotten him a few innings out of the pen. It certainly is not an upgrade for Kremer.

Kremer had a real good fastball last night. He attacked instead of nibbling.

I have mentioned this before.....this was, to me, always Tillmans problem. If you got MLB stuff then just trust it.

Feel like the lack of familiarity definitely helped too. I know he already faced the Mariners this year, but I feel like it was also reasonable to expect his fourth start against the Yankees in his first eight career games to go kind of poorly. Definitely interested to see how he does facing the rest of the West/Central for the first or second time.

Tillman's fastball was rather straight and not exactly overpowering. His success always surprised me a little.
