He was never right last year health wise.

He impressed this Spring. He's apparently been impressing this Summer.

I believe if he looks strong next Spring, and performs over the first two months at AAA.... he'll be up for good by Memorial Day.

One of the big unknowns in the O's system this year is what Diaz would've done with a healthy full season. As you noted, he's reportedly looked good at the alternate training site, so I'm hopeful that he's in a good position to perform well with better health in 2021.

Those numbers are pretty solid considering offense was horrid in the Eastern League last year. Diaz can be a pretty electric player and he's already shown that last year and in spring.

Agree, you can't just look at raw numbers you have to look at the league. His wRC+ was 135, at age 22. Mountcastle's wRC+ at AA in 2018 was only 117, albeit at age 21.

His problem is he needs to stop getting nagging injuries and get some healthy time to just develop. His games per year as a pro: 85-114-97-85.

It'll be real interesting to see who's the next OFer up if there's another injury.  Will it it be Diaz, or will Ryan McKenna pass him by?

I think it depends on which OF they’d be replacing but I’d bet on McKenna because he can play a good CF and they won’t mind him coming off the bench.

I hope these guys agents are giving you a taste.

I check on the updates for these guys and I keep thinking everyone in the minors is doing nothing but hitting HRs every AB.

Providing positive updates on the player pages, keeping their stat lines up to date on the pinned posts. I’ll most likely do an overall update once a month on the player pages.

But I’ll happily take payola.

Orioles minor leaguers have combined for 26 home runs through the 1st 5 days of the season. So yeah...most updates are going to be home runs.

Diaz left today's game in the 9th inning with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Hit a double but came up limping rounding second. Looked like he started grabbing for his ankle before being helped off the field.

Let's hope it is not an Achillies.

Brandon Hyde confirmed today that Yusniel Diaz left yesterday's Norfolk game with a thigh/upper leg injury, but said he did not know details. A source said the injury was still in the evaluation stage; Diaz has a history of leg/muscle issues.

I hope it is something minor.  He could get a call sooner than later, if he is healthy and doing well.

Don't agree there at all, but '21 can't be a lost injury filled campaign.
