Time to move him to AAA.

Agree, get him up to Norfolk in the near future. He's now had over 750 PAs at AA (spread between '17-current). Love that he's busted out of the slump he was in to begin the year and finally putting up numbers similar to what he was doing right before we acquired him.

Yep. Unless the plan is to skip AAA and have him in the majors soon, get him to Norfolk now.

I would be very, very surprised if that (skipping AAA) was the plan for Diaz. Elias has seemed to be very methodical in terms of assignments and promotions. I'd be shocked if he was called up without spending ample time at AAA (unless it's some emergency for just a couple days). I don't think he gets any MLB time in 2019.

Balt Sun: One year after Manny Machado trade, Orioles prospect Yusniel Diaz finding his form at Double-A Bowie

I still have considerable optimism about Diaz, but there is no doubt that his luster is down significantly since we've acquired him. Stalling is not good for a prospect. I'd be surprised if he's still in the top 100 after this season. Hopefully he gets up to AAA and hits great and makes everyone forget about his struggles in his early days as an Oriole farmhand.

I think it’s time to get him up to AAA. Let him get some time up there to finish the year so he can start there next season and hopefully be ready to join the Orioles mid-season.

Agreed. He'll be 23 in December. He's not old by any stretch but he's also not young. Move him up and give him the rest of the season in Norfolk and maybe by mid summer he's ready to be called up. Or shoot maybe he has a great two months at AAA and a good spring and makes the club. Not much downside IMO.

All the talk of Diaz not being as good here as he was with LA may have some merit but injuries have been a big part of that. He is in and out of the lineup seemingly all the time. He is too muscular or something? Seems to always have issues with his hammy.
