Here we go, this is what we've been waiting for all year. Chance for retribution for the Caps. Round1 kicks off Thursday at the phone booth against Toronto. Toronto has a young and upcoming team that over achieved but there's no reason the Caps shouldn't take this series in 4 or 5 games. Get through this one as quick as possible and get ready for a likely 2nd round rematch against the Pens.
Schedule for the Toronto series:
Game 1 Thursday at WSH 7pm
Game 2 Saturday at WSH 7pm
Game 3 Monday 4/17 at TOR 7pm
Game 4 Wednesday 4/19 at TOR 7pm
Gane 5* Friday 4/21 at WSH TBD
Game 6* Sunday 4/23 at TOR TBD
Game 7 Tuesday 4/25 at WSH TBD

Let's not have another President's Trophy be lonely without a Cup, eh?

Game 1 is tonight! The only question mark was real american hero John Carlson, but he's been cleared to play game 1. Team is at 100% health wise. No excuses, lets do this!

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Caps win in OT on Tom Wilson's first career playoff goal, 3-2, and lead the series 1-0.

A win is win, take it and keep going forward. I'm really surprised how shitty they looked early in this game. I'm not sure if it was nerves or the layoff, but the Caps were out of sync. Wasn't really until the middle or late 2nd and the 3rd before they looked like the team we've seen all year. Beisdes Mr Game 7 (williams) and MoJo not menny players were doing well. Kuzy and the whole 3rd line certainly picked things up in the 3rd period. Niskanen had a big hit that helped get them going as well. Gotta also give credit to Holtby for shutting down after giving up the 2. Great placement on Wilson's game winner. One other thing, the crowd was pretty damn weak tonight, falling behind 2 will do that but even when they cut it to 1 and tied it they we're pretty meh, guess the layoff hurt them too.

They can't start like that again, that was awful. This won't work in round 2.

Well they probably can this round, but I'd like to think that's over with and a one time thing. Meanwhile, Nashville takes game 1 in Chicago. Shit happens. They can't start like that again, that was awful. This won't work in round 2.

Don't sleep on TOR, this is one of the most mismatched 8 seeds I've ever seen. Kinda like the Wiz, TOR started off horribly, and then had the 5th best record in hockey for the rest of the year. They are so young that they are dangerous, if they happen to have youth that the pressure doesn't bother, they could roll through a round or two. They've got a young superstar, and some good side pieces. If anyone else was the #1 seed I'd probably have picked TOR to upset them. I think the veteran experience will save the day for the Caps, like Mr. April starting the scoring last night.
And don't forget, just because he plays the tough guy role on TV, Wilson is a much better offensive player than usual tough guys, he can score when he's trying.

I agree, Toronto is going to be tough for several years, and have a great coach. Not this year though. And I wouldn't accept any justification whatsoever if the Caps were to blow this series. Period. But of course y'all already know that.
You wouldn't accept any justification if the 1987 Oilers stepped out of a time machine and we played them in the next round.
