Pretty much every year after the Caps have been eliminated from the playoffs, Ovechkin has flown home to play for Russia. The fact that he isn't this time lends some credibility (to me at least) that he's dinged up. The lower body injury is probably related to that open iced knee on knee hit he took in the Toronto series.

Yep, Kadri hit sprained his knee, nothing torn, played through it. Then he injured his hamstring in game 2 against the Pens. Nothing torn.
Johansson broke a finger in game 1 against the PENS.
Alzner's injury was a broken right hand.

Damn, how'd he even play? Broke my hand in March. It was in a cast for 4 weeks then another 2 weeks in a brace. Just now getting close to 100% with it.

Hockey players man. I don't know how they do it, but Ovi had no business being out there, neither did Alzner, and Niskanen had a sprained MCL and a concussion earlier this season when he was out so he was playing through that too. That's why no one wanted to use an injury as an excuse cause they were all playing through some major bumps and bruises.
