F that wall. Just hit it over the wall and let the Yankees whine about it.

He's currently on pace for 74 homers, and 265 rbi. Would be a pretty solid season.

And yet has consistently hit the ball hard throughout. He's a pure hitter and a free swinger. Never gonna walk, could help if he pulled the ball more, but he will be a solid middle of the order bat as long as he is here.

Pure hitter in what sense. I cant label anyone who has a career .258 hitter a pure hitter. Hes a pure hitter in the sense that his bat is why hes here and its enough to have him be an everyday regular.
And yet his xBA has been top 10% of the league since the start of 2022.

You dont get rewarded for the x in front of BA. Not a small career sample size for him anymore.

He shouldn’t hit the ball so hard then because as his exit velo and hard hit percentage increased his BA decreased.

What do we do here? Short term and long term. Hes pretty bad and has been for awhile. Brings no D. 1st yr arb guy this offseason. Do you just hand him a job in '24? Non tender? Trade him for whatever? Granted he could improve as the season goes on but this question likely remains heading into '24. I dont see any finish to his season where we are or should be penciling him into 550 ABs in '24
I don't think he makes it to arb2 with us, could see him getting one more year. Kjerstad is his replacement IMO. Hope he finishes the season strong and trade him in the offseason. He just doesn't fit the development model (swing decisions) as good as a clubhouse presence as he appears to be.
