I would have voted for Mountcastle myself. But what's really cool is that the O's had two guys you could have awarded it to in the same week!
Yea, really no wrong answer, and I am just glad an Oriole won.

I am happy for Ryan, but Cedric would have gotten my vote
nice to even have a discussion about whom should have had the vote. Means there is more than 1 doing something.

In a week where Cedric hit .600 with 3 bombs, and plays centerfield like he invented it, Mountcastle winning is a real achievement.

.515 OPS in April
.748 OPS in May
.969 OPS in June
I think we'd all be happy as heck if long term he was half way between May and June!

The Orioles have a lot of problems but Mountcastle is not one of them. He is going to be a good hitter, and hopefully a good first baseman.

All the games count, so you can't ignore how terribly he started the season, but since May 1 Mountcastle is 283/332/529/862 in nearly 300 PA. 6.4 BB% in that time, which would be perfectly acceptable. Lots of Ks at 25.8% but that's not much worse than league average at 23.5%
If he can sustain those rates I would expect the slash line to look pretty much like it has since May.
He's currently up to a 775 OPS for the season after a red hot last week.

Another HR tonight. Real chance to hit 30+. He was always going to be fine. All the games count, so you can't ignore how terribly he started the season, but since May 1 Mountcastle is 283/332/529/862 in nearly 300 PA. 6.4 BB% in that time, which would be perfectly acceptable. A bad streak is a lot more noticeable when it comes at the top of a season. Ryan can hit, and we are going to have a lot of fun watching him.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

Gotta be Mize or Garcia, right? Anyone else in the mix? Mize is still eligible I think since they basically gave a free pass for 2020.

There's also that guy Haase from Detroit. DIdn't he lead the majors in RBI in July or something? He has similar offensive numbers to Mountcastle, and he's a catcher.
