Wow. You could write one hell of a dirty joke with that pitching staff.Anyone staying up as long as they can to watch the WBC? First game starts shortly. Austrailia vs. Taipei. The American announcer should get a bonus if he calls the enitre game without confusing any players names on Chinese Taipei.

In the majors, A) not many first pitch swingers because they value walks too much. B) you never see a sac bunt in the first inning. C) most 3 hole hitters, not all, but most are swinging for the fences. More often than not it doesn't lead to a home run. Figure the absolute best 3 hitters are moving that runner only about 30-35% of the time?
I'm wondering if American mangers, or general managers for that matter will ever adapt these concepts? I mean, sabermetrics was not popular, and frowned upon when Bill James started publishing his ideas. Maybe 20 years from now, if the Asians keep dominating, maybe some team adopts the manufacture runs any way any time you can, or whatever you want to call it...aggressive small ball? It'll be frowned upon, but the game of baseball is ever changing, and some teams with nothing to lose will try anything to gain an edge.

So you mean American baseball should go BACK to doing what they used to do?It's neat to see how differently the Asians approach the game. In the first inning, Chinese Taipei's lead off hitter got a base hit, first pitch swinging. Then a sac bunt moves him to 2nd. Yes, a sac bunt in the first inning. Then the right handed 3 hitter goes opposite field for a single to drive the run in.

Right, that's what MLB teams used to do before they realized it was dumb.So you mean American baseball should go BACK to doing what they used to do?
