The Bucks are trying to trade for Jason Kidd. What? Why?
http://espn.go.com/n...n-brooklyn-nets
New Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry is known to be close with Kidd after stints as a Nets minority owner and as the former All-Star point guard's financial adviser. Lasry and Wes Edens, two New York investment firm executives, bought the team for about $550 million earlier this year.

Is it just me or are the Bucks giving up too much for Kidd? He's coached one year where he had a pretty talented roster.
I was listening to Mike&Mike this AM and Brian Windhorst was talking about how bad this is going to be with him among the rest of coaching fraternity (going after a sitting coach's job), specifically given how respected Larry Drew is. I'm sure if he's successful there, even if he rubs people the wrong way in the process, it will be seen as worth it.
Unless he's gaining power in Milwaukee and even if that's the case, it makes little sense to me -- given that this team is likely going nowhere next year. This isn't Doc Rivers where he was not only gaining power but getting a better team.

I don't really understand the Kidd obsession. By all accounts, the Nets, despite aging, underachieved this year. To get a 6 seed in the terrible East and almost lose to Toronto is not that great. Deron Williams regressed big time despite Kidd being a former PG.
I just don't see the attraction. Add in the fact that he doesn't have the greatest reputation and has exactly zero experience running an NBA team and I think he's doing the Nets a favor.

The Bucks are giving up two second-round picks, one not for another half-decade. I don't think that's all that much if you think he's a good coach, which the Bucks obviously do.

It's not. I guess I'm more just questioning WHY they think he's a good coach/player personnel developer.
This is third hand, so take it with a grain of salt, but my buddy said a friend of his was sitting behind the Nets' bench during a game last year and that Kidd's assistants handled the Xs and Os entirely and that Kidd was just basically there as a motivational speaker. Not sure how common that is in the NBA.

That's a separate issue, and definitely worth talking about.
I remember when he was hired there was some talk about the assistants the team hired being there to essentially teach him how to coach. Which makes sense if you're going to hire a guy right off the court with no other experience. The question is how much he learned and how he can do on his own, especially moving to a new team.

Well that's disappointing. I was hoping Kyrie would get a chance to play for a contender, I like him.

A max deal for Gordon Hayward??!?!?!
Wow.
If this comes to pass it will make guys like Ariza and Lowry lick their lips.

Everyone wants Pau.

If he chooses to play for a contender for what will likely be a discount, whichever contender that lands him will really increase their chances at winning a title. Pau can still play at a high level.

Sounds like he could end up a Knick.
Melo is reportedly trying to recruit him to NY, which of course makes it even more likely Melo is staying in NY.
Pau has a good relationship with Phil and him and Calderon are close.
He could also go to Miami, OKC and SA...I'm surprised he would choose NY there, especially since he reportedly is really valuing winning.
