Olson is donating 1% of the contract to a Braves charitable foundation. Somewhere dude is smiling, those type of things are a hallmark of the deals he proposes.
MLBTR had projected him for $12M through arbitration this year which was a $7M raise. Depending on how big of a 2022 he has he could've been due a similar raise, lets call it $18M for the sake of round numbers. That's 2/$30M if he goes year-to-year, so this guarantees him 6/$138M on top of that or $23M per year average (actual contract is $15M/$21M then $22M per for 6). Seems like a pretty fair price for a 900 OPS 1B.

Big package going to the Braves for Olson. But we were supposed to get him and Chapman for a bunch of crap apparently.
With mlb.com's new top100 list coming out, it should be noted that the As traded Olson AND Chapman for ONE guy in the back-half of the top 100.
That ONE guy (#59) is a defense first catcher when the only other player the As have on the top 100 (Soderstrom, #56) is also a catcher.
Henderson, Mountcastle, 14+M and 2 other guys is a better package than the 8 guys the As actually took in trade.
...and if you want to argue about the word "better" and try to justify whatever, fine, but the fact is there are simple ways to exceed that type of total package. Henderson and RM would be the top 2 players of those 10 players.
The point continues to be, there are things you can do if you want to.

Lolz.
If the As called up the Orioles and offered Langeliers, Pache and Hoglund for Henderson and Mountcastle, do you think the Orioles should take it?

I havent even looked at the Jays deal for Chapman yet. Pache, Langeliers, Cusick, and Estes alone is going to be viewed as a better package than Henderson and Mountcastle by the majority of people. Especially people who know anything about anything. Mountcastle is a DH and Henderson while talented isn't going to be stay at SS and has concerning K numbers. At worst Pache and Langliers are two premium defenders at up the middle positions on the field. Thats more valuable than Mountcastle even if they are never very good hitters. Cusick is a top 25 draft pick with electric stuff who has thrown 16 pro innings and already made a Top 100 list.

Anyone from OTV, would you trade Mountcastle and Henderson for Pache, Langeliers and Hoglund right now.

Thats not the deal. Thats not everyone who Oak got back. But sure this is an Os board so maybe you can find 1 or 2 guys that biasedly overvalue Mountcastle and Henderson vs the haul Oak got. I welcome anyone to weigh in.

No. Pache is Victor Robles, Langeliers should be slightly better than league average at C with a good glove, and I like Hoglund a lot if he comes back healthy. But we have enough depth, if we're trading prospects/young MLB'ers I'd like it to be to upgrade at a starting position.

So apparently Freddie Freeman's agent never told him about the final offer the Braves made.
And apparently it's the same agent who screwed up Dexter Fowler signing with the O's.

I don’t buy it. A well-established player agent, Casey Close, is going to railroad Freddie Freeman like that? Once Freeman found out, he’d not only lose his commission, but also a litany of clients who would suddenly realize they can no longer trust their agent.
File this one under “BullSnot.” Me thinks Doug Gottlieb was talking out of his ass.

Austin Riley just got a ten-year, $212 million extension.

Wheeeeew. Braves ownership isn't screwing around with him, Albies, Olson, and Acuna all signed long-term.

Raisel Iglesias also acquired, for Jesse Chavez (the most traded man in baseball!) and Tucker Davidson.
That's a stacked bullpen. Still worried about the back-end of the rotation, even with Odorizzi in the mix.

The Braves are a great organization. Hopefully the Orioles take this approach with Adley and others.
