@NeilWeinberg44: This trade is so bad I can't find anyone ON THE INTERNET who likes it for the Tigers.

Yeah sure, everyone says that today. But they will go make a couple moves here soon and then everyone will be like OH THE TIGERZ ARE SO MUCH SMARTZ!!!
They are reallocating salary and getting the players they have in the positions they want them. They've got a couple moves up their sleeve still.

Yeah looks like the first move is going with Nathan instead of Wilson.

Nathan at 2/20? If so, that's a more attractive option to a contender than Johnson IMO. Also, what would have been an Orioles equivalent in value to what the Nats gave up? For all the talk about Porcello on here, I would have rather had Fister.

@Joelsherman1 #Tigers avoid arbitration with Rick Porcello. He gets $8.5M in 2014.

ESPN: Tigers: Max Scherzer rejects offer
"The Detroit Tigers have made a substantial, long-term contract extension offer to Max Scherzer that would have placed him among the highest paid pitchers in baseball, and the offer was rejected," the team said in a statement.
"As we have reiterated, it has been the organization's intent to extend Max's contract and keep him in a Tigers uniform well beyond the 2014 season. While this offer would have accomplished that, the ballclub's focus remains on the start of the upcoming season, and competing for a World Championship. Moving forward there will be no further in-season negotiation and the organization will refrain from commenting on this matter."

6/144 is what he turned down.

As a pitcher, he's crazy to turn that down. Risk of injury is too high.@NeilWeinberg44: I would not go higher than 6/144 for Max. Good for the Tigers. Max can get more, so also good for Max. 6/144 is what he turned down.

Miguel Cabrera, Tigers agree to “mega contract extension”
Eight years and ~$250 million, in addition to the two years, $44 million on his current deal.
So just under 10/300.
