@annarbornews #winterclassic attendance: 105,491

Or, what would have taken the Atlanta Thrashers 15 games to achieve.

From the looks and sounds of it, more of them were Leafs fans.

They haven't won in a while, but their fans are crazy. The Yankees/Cowboys/Lakers of the NHL in terms of history and tradition.

As fun as this has been, need to wrap up the shootout quick. Less than 15 minutes to hear Musberger say "You are looking live at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California."

Definitely a Hoser-heavy crowd in the Big House today.

Did you see the crowd last year in Downtown Detroit before for the first playoff game? Haven't seen anything like it for a non-championship game.

It's also possible that a number of people who would have been at the game rooting for the Wings are instead soaking up some sunshine in Pasadena. Sparty is well-represented in the stands.

More like Red Sox/Vikings/Knicks.

Love the throwback uni's and pads. This is awesome.

Even better I love that they both got to wear their Home sweaters.  The Blue and Red looked even better with the snow falling.

ESPN: 'Goon squad' lineups touch off melee

http://espn.go.com/n...-2-seconds-game

The bad blood wasn't confined to the ice. At the end of the first period CBC, which televised the game, captured Tortorella attempting to go into the Flames locker room at Rogers Arena. Calgary enforcer Brian McGrattan pushed him away.

Flames goaltender coach Clint Malarchuk came out of the Flames dressing room after Tortorella and McGrattan were separated. Malarchuk followed Tortorella, but was restrained by several members of Calgary's staff and McGrattan.

Hartley also defended his starting lineup.

"Those guys are playing well for us," he said. "They got a goal last game. We're not scoring many goals. We had zero intentions there.

Yeah...

Here's the YouTube:

You knew it was going down, as soon as the Defenseman took the Faceoff. 2 seconds later, boom. What a mess.

So what exactly was the result? Since all five skaters were in the box for majors, did they run five minutes off the clock?
