What is the early read on him?Should he get a long look for a rotation spot? I like his upside. He throws strikes, obviously the whip needs to come down. I think it will. With the new coach coming in, perhaps it would be better to let him work out of the pen to start the year.

No way. Way too much to work on. He should have been in AA last year, instead he was pitching meaningful innings in the ML bp.
He'll probably be a starter in AAA, they'll see how he does, and if he does well he may get a look when injuries pop up.

He will pitch well for them, I have a gut feeling on it. With the early baptism, he got knocked around a little, but wasn't completely out of his element from what I saw. It's something to build on.

I bet no one would have guessed that his fWar is 3rd on the team for RPs behind only O'Day and Britton.

Webb is also ahead of him with a .8 compared to McFarland's .3.

I meant to say rWAR. His rWar is .2
Screw fWar . it has Webb and O'Day as equal and only .1 behind Britton. We all know Webb has not been close to either of those guys.

Nice work from McFarland last night giving the O's a chance to get back in the game.

Some folks around here don't appreciate his value... he's good at doing his job... it's just that his job isn't to be a SP... it's to keep a game within reach while he saves the BP for the next few games...
