There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

I dont care what the result of this series is though at this point I expect to lose it. We arent champ caliber. This KC team is as mid as mid gets. They were as bad offensively today as they were all month. And they even tried to set us up with a bad error.
If they lose tomorrow it’s time to admit the homegrown orioles aren’t going to get it done. Time to buy and sell at same time. Maybe SportsGuy was right all along.
Elias had better start retooling the roster. For me, I keep Westy(hes a dog), Gunnar(hes a dog), Adley (hes gonna bounce back offensively and there just isnt an easy way to find quality C.), Jackson(I dont love how low his baseball IQ looked at times but he was 20 and I believe in the bat). After those 4 guys as far as Im concerned everyone is available.

Cowser can be a part. I dont like him but whatever. Maybe he can find a way to strikeout less. His problem is his WPA and I dont think its a fluke. I dont think he has good ABs in big spots. Weve seen that Henderson can have big hits. Weve seen Westy do it. Hell even Jackson had some huge hits in his limited ABs.
I'd hold onto Cowser, too. Gunnar, Westburg, Adley, Holliday, Cowser. Build around that.

Speaking of Jackson, I wish he wouldve shown better defensively and not had some of the mental lapses because I would love start his bat at 2b tomorrow. I just think hes a guy who can lock in in big spots. But you cant do it with the flubs he made. Have to stay with Urias
Yeah, I like the fact that Jackson has made some adjustments (lowering the leg kick, going to a toe tap) at the plate during the season. I think he bounces back pretty strong next year. I agree with you though, you can't trust his defense on this stage and you have to make plays.

They simply can't go into 2025 without some roster shake up.

No focus or leadership complaints regarding the swing decisions today. It's all about effort for me today. Two guys not running hard could've been the difference in the game.

I thought Urias was slowed by a poor read, not a poor effort, though it doesn't really matter that much which one it was.

I think he means on the ball he hit and not the single by Ced. The hit by Ced was a tough read, I dont really fault Urias on that.

They transitioned from 2023 to 2024 with almost no changes. They had to add Burnes due to so much uncertainty to the rotation with injuries. They wanted to add a closer with Bautista out for the year. The most PAs by someone who wasn't on the roster last year was Eloy Jimenez with 100, a scrap heap pick up from the dumpster.
They simply can't go into 2025 without some roster shake up.
I had no problem running it back on offense wih the expected addition of the young players. Pitching I wish he would have added 1 more SP and one more quality RP by at least the deadline. Tomorrow might be a different story as it might be the pitching that dooms us but my focus and take away right now is on the position players and the changes that need to be made there. They have to make some outside additions and switches to the position player core. Im over these poor ABs and poor effort and focus. And its not just the hitting BTW. The defense by the position players has been better of late but the defense as a whole on the year was also bad.

Talking about the flyout that he had hit. Think we could've gotten to third if he'd been running hard out of the box. Not a guarantee he makes it, maybe it'd have been safer to stay at second, but no chance at all when you loaf it out if the box.I thought Urias was slowed by a poor read, not a poor effort, though it doesn't really matter that much which one it was.
Same for Mullins' double. That was a bit less likely to be stretched, and it was leadoff so less important to get to third, but don't even give yourself the chance if you don't run out of the box. Mullins thought it was gone.

Urias is so damn slow. I dont think he risks it anyway but your point remains that he didnt go hard out of the box and thats inexcusable

I see, yeah I was making dinner and didn't see that on the Urias hit. Mullins I agree with both, should have run harder, maybe wouldn't go to 3rd anyway.
Of course Urias was at 3rd with one out, Ced at 2nd with no outs, should have gotten something one/both of those times anyway.

It really sucked that so many prospects whiffed this year and guys like Adley collapsed. It's hard to put much stock in them going forward. Yeah I expect them to be better than what we saw this year but it also wouldn't surprise me to see them fail to develop or produce again either.
It kind of feels like we're in the QB limbo I was talking about NYG, JAX and ARZ being in earlier today.

We wanted something other than the hot dog race to cheer for, so badly.
And honestly, I don't get all the hysteria over the hot dog race. Especially when the team is losing. It's either a graphic or men in hot dog suits. Get a grip.

We arent in limbo in the sense that we are gonna be bad or have no chance but Im a firm believer that theyve plateaued under this manager and with group. Maybe they win 85 again next year. Maybe 88 and sneak in. Maybe only 80 though. Regardless, they arent making a championship push without changes
