Who wasn't playing hard yesterday? They couldn't hit water if they fell out of the boat but I don't think it was because of a lack o effort.

I don't get it either.

If anything, some of the hitters were probably trying too hard. Ragans was pretty tough to hit too. He and Burnes hooking up was some pretty good stuff.

I said it in like the first inning... small / smaller ball would win that game as long as pitchers were working the edges of the zone. Ump was calling the rivers and the actual rulebook zone in terms of top and bottom. I love it. I'm also a pitcher dad so...

KC got a baserunner, stole a base, moved him over, and scored on a single. The Orioles stuck with their HR or nothing mindset, as usual, and failed. Folks can lament the wall or the zone all they want. KC did enough to adapt, and BAL did not.

2014 was a decade ago. Nobody on this team was on the 2014 team. Most were still in high school or college. Different manager. Different coaches. Please explain how anything from then is relevant to anything now, other than the uniform.

Also, any time someone tries to gatekeep fandom it makes me literally laugh out loud.

Because I remember it. I was also there at every game in 2014, BTW.

Please apply this "logic" to your incessant whining about the Ravens.

Lol, the fans pining over the 8 game playoff losing streak somehow affected the players yesterday?

That's quite the stretch.

If you don't think the players can feed off of the crowd's energy, I don't know what to tell you.

The crowd was amped yesterday. They'll be amped today. O's fans show up.

If they lose today, it'll be 10 straight postseason losses. IDC what anyone says that rot grows among a fanbase.

I believe the Twins had lost 16 straight before they beat Houston last year...but eventually lost the series.

If the crowd was affected by the losing streak, that's on them.

The crowd was much more affected by Ragans performance than any past failures.

I mean, some of that might be true, but it has nothing to do with whether or not the crowd's energy can affect the players.

I've come to expect zero clutch hitting in the playoffs. 96 and 97 they had opportunities to turn games and maybe the series with clutch hits that never came. 12, 14, 16, same. Last year and yesterday getting shut out. The 3 "eras" have nothing to do with each other, but the failure is consistent across completely different groups. Bummer...

(Although, this may be the last clutch hit they've gotten in the playoffs)

Sorry, wasn't implying they went COMPLETELY hitless with RISP. :) Maybe I did, but didn't mean to. Zero means zero. My bad. But they don't hit in the clutch very much to say the least.

Could watch that clip over and over and over...

That moment will live forever but it's time they created a new exciting moment in the playoffs.

There was a spot in game 1 of the 2014 ALCS where you just knew the O's were going to get a clutch hit and take control of the game...  and Nelson Cruz hit into a double play.

There was a similar situation in game 1 last year, when I was pretty sure Santander was going to get a huge hit... and he hit into a double play.

Yesterday, when McCann came up with runners on first and third and one out, I was pretty sure he was going to hit into a double play...  he fooled me by striking out on 3 pitches instead.

Yeah, hopefully the fans can shake off this losing streak today. I mean, the players need that energy. I heard Mr. Splash was little off his game yesterday too! Just a bad day all around. Those gosh darned fans need to get their heads out of their asses!

Urias not running out of the box and ending up with a double is very poor IMO. That should be 3 bases all day when the play is in front of you and the ball goes past the LFer to the left.

Urias may have watched that a bit too long. I think he surprised that he made contact on that swing. I doubt he makes it to third with his lack of speed anyway. That guy is the slowest runner on the club.

They had lost 18 in a row before last year.  They did finally win and actually won a series last year, beating TOR in the WC series.

The only thing I'll point out is that Jackson Holliday was either in elementary or middle school in 2014. He was likely more affected by pizza being served at lunch on the day the Orioles were swept in 2014 than the sweep. If they pressed yesterday, it has nothing to do with the playoff losing streak. They just played tight.

Complete and total agreement.
