You cant just make stuff up to fit your narrative. Thats why it matters.

You mean like pretending Hyde is making all the pitching decisions and not getting guidance from the FO that wants to be the most analytically driven in MLB.

Haha. There you go guys. Breaking news. John inserted himself at the top of the last two drafts. ROFL. Hey Bob get your boys in the media on the phone and have them get to the bottom of JA draft room drama

Yeahhhhhh JA had nothing to do with any draft under Elias.

I'd struggle to believe John Angelos had ever heard of Enrique Bradfield before draft day, yet alone mandated he be selected. Come on dude, you don't really believe he was involved.

This is fair. Obviously zero real-time involvement from Front Office to the dugout, but I struggle to understand how anyone could think they aren't laying out a very specific decision matrix for Hyde to execute game-by-game.

Certainly he set the draft budget and had to approve going into the 10% buffer zone. Otherwise Elias would've spent to it regularly rather than just once or twice. But it's beyond unbelievable to think JA had input on actual draft selections. The era of Wade Townsend ended when John took control. Probably even earlier. Weren't any inexplicable choices after Hobgood.

Dont encourage him. Ive always said I suspect they are heavily involved pregame. In fact, Ive noted before how Rosenbaum talked about how they go over things with Hyde. She also said that all final decisions are Hyde's. I think they laying out a general BP blueprint. They are making Hyde aware of usage rates and keying in on matchups they may prefer. There is no way it is in depth enough to cover everything that could pop up. For example, it isnt their call to tell Hyde to use 3 guys in one inning. Or exactly when to pull guys. You all know damn well there is still in game feel and decisions that are Hyde's in the moment. Take todays game for example. There was nothing in the playbook for having someone up and ready for the Ari top of the lineup in the 5th. All feel and as I pointed out Hyde left Means in at least a batter too long. Why some of you want to completely dismiss the managers role in managing in game is baffling.

So I didnt respond because he was making a completely exaggerated and mostly made up assertion. Ive never said the FO has no impact on Hyde's managing. Ive said what I said above before. I know it as fact that Rosenbaum talked about it specifically. What he is doing with JA is completely different. Its based on no logic or facts. He puts layers and layers of his own thoughts and speculatuon into things. Hes living in another damn universe. I mean nobody else even understands or agrees with him that the last 2 drafts have been chaotic or really all that different. Let alone taking the next step in saying it was because of JA

I didn't say JA told him to draft Bradfield.  Holliday, yes.  That is Boras.  I'd guess EB was a little different than that.

How about this, like I said earlier, I doubt our 1st round pick this year will not know the Orioles were interested.

fwiw, I've avoided doing this for these reasons.  I'm not making any deal out of it.  It can't help but devolve this (or any) thread.

I didn't come back to this the other day.  It doesn't seem like anyone really cares about this other than Wile E trying to make something out of nothing (again and again).

I actually prefer to ask questions because when you answer the questions it leads you to the answer.  You won't want to answer the questions because you don't want the answer it leads you to (and that applies to a lot of people here, well beyond Baseball).

"Profile" is more than just the individual player (although that's some of it), it's also the draft as a whole.
Next post will have my expectations of this draft.

So, a regular conversation without Morse code and playing 20 questions isn’t going to happen. What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Then what did you say?  Angelos mandated - despite contractually not being allowed to overrule any of Elias' baseball decisions from what we've heard about Elias' arrangement - that they draft...what?  A centerfielder with speed?  A college bat?  This opinion sounds unsupportable to me on its face and you've yet to offer any support to dissuade me of that opinion.

Something unprovable that he can obliquely reference for the next three years while claiming it’s not his fault none of us want to believe it?

The next post highlights all of my expectations for the 2024 draft.  What I mean in terms of the "profile" of the draft.

Tell you what, while I don't really care and it doesn't matter, if you care, let's take it to PM and I'll be as specific as you want.

Offer for Mackus too.

I'll take a PM, but I'd rather you just post your reply. If people aren't interested they can skip over the post.

The Wall thread would suggest it's not an option.

I think maybe you're confusing strong disagreement for disinterest, but I don't recall all the details of the wall discussion.
