is 92 his fastball? Man I liked his composure and they sure didn't hit him hard. But the walks and the two monsters Vlad hit were all they needed. Well plus the fact that Tate only had to get one guy and couldn't do it.

91-94. Five pitch mix, knows how to sequence.

It looked like he got away w/some fat ones early on against Atlanta. But as time went on, Povich started hitting the edges well and staying out of the middle of the plate.

He throws mostly 92-23. But then again, I heard this Philly guy last nite wasn't throwing much harder, and he was masterful. And Povich's stuff must play because he gets strikeouts.

Looks like we're gonna need him to keep going w/Bradish looking troublesome. And his next start's against MFY, no easy trip.

Cade Povich, it's your time to step up and be a mid rotation starter!

Maybe Povich can supply a Mike Boddicker type rookie season season.

He's handled Braves and Yankees in consecutive starts. Not bad. Povich impressed me a lot last night by consistently getting out of serious trouble against a good team. Has to improve control.

I'd love him to settle into the rotation and move Suarez into the bullpen where his power arm w/really play in variety of roles.

Despite his poor line, Friday, I liked his most of his pitching. He showed a decent change-up which he really needs. And after a rough start, he was hitting his spots and got strikeouts.

I did miss that, thanks.  Think this is just re-arranging to basically buy a free roster spot until they need him.  They have an off-day on Monday following the break, so they won't need a 5th starter until Saturday July 27th.  Povich is eligible to return the next day if I'm counting right, so they'll need to figure something out.

This. You can usually tell that's what it is when it happens the day after a start. That way it's the max time between starts, and with the break and the off day, they are just maximizing the roster. Either they don't go anywhere and it's just a paper move and they keep doing their normal work, or they go down and get a start just to stay on rotation. Usually depends on things like innings limits and stuff like that.

It opens a rotation spot for a trade acquisition. Be interesting to see what they do on the 27th if they haven't made a deal in time to get a starter for that day, with Povich not eligible to return until the 28th. Guess it would be Irvin getting a spot start.

Huh?  He's been knocked out early once.  Averaging 5 1/3 IP otherwise, which is pretty solid.

Povich has been pretty lucky in some of those other outings though. Tons of traffic on the basebaths.  You keep him in the back pocket for now. Insurance. See if he can refine his arsenal and control/command in the offseason.
