Liked that they limited his pitch arsenal a bit.

If he can compete / keep you in games as a starter, you could move Suarez to the pen.

Nice to have an organization that I think has proven at this point to be able to make adjustments with prospects/young players after their initial exposure to the majors. Cade looked great last night, deserved better.

I think Suarez.  I like Suarez better...  but his stuff in the pen, could really help.

Thought his stuff looked better and more crisp last night. Obviously command was much better. I'd like to see him get a few more starts before the end of the year.

Got tons of swing and miss on the off speed yesterday. Also seemed like he was more 93-94 with the heater. Sometimes hard to tell if you're seeing good pitching or bad hitting, but I thought it was good pitching last night. Very little hard contact.

I'll admit I only saw the highlights from yesterday. Obviously, if he has control/command that will really help but I think he needs that. Stand by his raw stuff being less than impressive. THat said, its more impressive stuff than Rogers. I want to find a positive there  with him but I just dont see anything right now

Povich in the offseason needs to go somewhere to try and get his fastball to sit at 94+. Offspeed stuff is good, command is his biggest issue. And more importantly, when he doesn't have it he doesn't seem to be able to find it again in the same outing.

Yeah we’re very open about letting our guys go to places like Driveline and Tread. Off the top of my head Dillon Tate did over the offseason.

Stuff is only one path to success as a pitcher. Pitching well is another. That's why guys like Means can be so good, knowing what to do, mixing things well, keeping people off balance, pitching to weaknesses...all that stuff. Don't have to have a 99mph FB and 90mph slider.

 

Being able to keep the ball where you are trying to throw it is pretty universally important though.

He was hitting 95 last nite but only 2 K's. When he was throwing 92, he was fanning 'em like Sandy Koufax. Strange.
