I am liking #1. And the other first several picks look good too. No idea on those farther down the list but from what I have seen from this front office they know what they are doing.

After the first couple the group are just names to me, but the organization has done a good job on their drafts, so they get the benefit of the doubt.

They should a real confidence in their ability to fix swings, and refine pitching mechanics.  Time will tell!

Overall, not really the Os.

I've been hunting to get the overall percentage but haven't seen it posted and didn't really feel like finding a list to export to excel to track it myself, I figure it'll come out soon enough, it usually does.

Draft eligible sophomores would be in this years mix, but doubt that's a huge number, you're right, I was thinking 2019 was the beginning of that year, and thinking 2022 was 3 years, but the start of this year was 2021, so that's only 2 years out still. It's next year that should see the biggest swing.

I've had it on my radar since they did that weird short draft to see what the fallout was going to be.

And there it is. Bob retweeted it a little while ago.

81% of all draft picks this year were college players.

I knew my spider senses were tingling.

Yikes. Didn’t expect it to be THAT high but it was bothering me.

@MattLevine__

Maxwell Costes (@TerpsBaseball) confirmed to me that he has signed with the Orioles as an undrafted free agent.

Costes grew up in the City of Baltimore, went to The Gilman School, and had a decorated four-year career at Maryland. Now he joins his childhood favorite organization.

Is that more than usual?

It’s been steadily getting worse for a while. 2018 it was 75% college and that was an all time high that had been climbing for a while.

Last year was close to the same as this year. Near 80%

2015 was the highest ever at 63% before it started climbing.

While this exercise is fun, it is far easier to do in the NFL Draft.  In the MLB Draft, signing bonuses play a tricky game, as you are never really sure the guy you wanted was available for the price your team paid at that slot.  Regardless, this should be fun. Please post yours.

1: Druw Jones, CF (I liked our pick, however)

A: Conner Prielipp, LHP

2: Peyton Pallette, RHP
B: Waler Ford, RHP

Felt that there were two high end starters coming off injuries that could become our next top pitching prospects. Risky, yes. But I'd have been happy to get them.

Naturally, I hope our selections are all great.  Go O's. :)

Not sure what we are doing here? Most already posted in the predraft thread their thoughts on who they wanted. I was on record in that thread I wanted Holliday. So I am happy. Further down the list I just don't think I have enough intel to make any kind of reasoned judgement. All I can do is read the thoughts of the "experts" ....lol

I probably would have taken Termarr Johnson. I still am a big fan and hope he's a huge star. With that said I would have been happy with any of Jones, Johnson, or Holliday and I'm satisfied with the pick.

Prelipp is a good name for A, though I think Beavers has some intriguing upside. Past that I don't know enough about their picks to say.

I liked Temar Johnson, and also liked Elijah Green, but I have no problem with Holliday.  In fact, the more I read the more I think they absolutely made the right pick for them.

I would've picked Jones.

Can't honestly say anything about any of the picks after that.

I’m very happy with the Orioles draft but here’s how I would’ve gone:

1 - Termarr Johnson
A - Justin Campbell
2 - Jackson Ferris
B - Tanner Schobel

Druw Jones looks like he needs shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season. Brutal. Feel bad for the kid.

Hurt himself during BP. I wonder if he went up swinging too hard trying to impress someone.

They still gotta convince Porter to sign.  They can only throw about $4.85M at him if Rocker at $5.2M is accurate.

Was looking back for something else and was going to find this at some point too.

Porter signed for 3.7M.

It's a fascinating draft for them.  They gave up their 2nd and 3rd rd picks for signing big FAs, but managed to 2 first round (maybe even top10 if you count last year for Rocker) type Talents.  They signed a couple of HS OFer (one ranked top 125) with 5th and 6th round picks and more or less punted the rest of the draft in terms of better Talent (maybe they get lucky with someone).

You probably need a motivated agent like Boras to pull it off, but it's still interesting.  I'm not as high on Rocker as others so I wouldn't be betting my chips on him, but if you do have him evaluated that high, it's pretty interesting.
