Always

At the professional level these guys generally only train on their own or with a few others.   So the only time they really work on exchanges is when they are all together for these championship meets.

Right; even knowing that, I wish ways could be found to work on it more. No matter who's in the lineup, it scares me a bit.

Just to be clear, this is only for the 200. Richardson won the 100 meters last weekend.

These trials have been great. Men's 1500m final Monday night was a whale of a race and last night in the women's 10k Parker Valby the 21 yo still attending Florida finished in 2nd. Women's 400m final is tonight, looking forward to another dominant race from Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone

I like how he's spoken openly about battling past his depression.
He's really enjoying the moment. Good luck to him.

He's a fun guy.  At the US Olympic Trials he ran each race with a Yu-Gi-Oh card.  There's a monster called Exodia, you need  pieces to summon him, so after each race he would play another card!  It was hilarious

Track gets going tomorrow, events I'm looking forward to most for tomorrow are the first round of the mens 1500 meters (there is so much talent in Paris, Finals aren't until Tuesday, but all the big names still need to avoid trouble in this round and Sunday's semi's to get a chance to medal).  First rounds of the Women's 100 meters (Richardson) are also tomorrow.

Richardson advances to the Semi finals.

3 heats of the mens 1500, an American in each heat (Nguse, Hocker and Kessler).   All 3 advance to the semifinals.  This years Olympics has a different process for advancement to the semis.   The top 6 from each heat automatically move on to Sunday's race.  In the past they would then take the next 6 fastest times, but not this year.  There is a repecharge round tomorrow for all of the losers who get one more chance to advance.   This is not the way to do it, you don't want to have to run 3 hard 1500's on 3 consecutive days.  Having said all of that it made for some interesting races this morning.  Nguse and Hocker (who both have a decent shot at a medal) got in to some trouble and had to make some late moves to advance.   Kessler did a much better job of avoiding traffic and coasting through.

Great 1st day on the track.

All 3 americans including reigning champion Ryan Crouser qualified for the final

USA set a WR in the heats of the mixed 4x4, hoping they use local runner Quincy Wilson for the final.

10k  just wrapped up with a hell of a race and an Olympic Record!  American Grant Fisher ran great the whole way and took home the bronze, can't even remember the last time an American medaled in the 10K

Pretty cool for St. Lucia. Great race from Richardson, just didn't have a great start and couldn't make it up.

You are being kind to Shicari, that start was bad. Don't know if it would have mattered Alfred ran great. Knew she was a threat after the semi.

The Shot GOAT Ryan Krouser collects another gold. Fellow American Joe Kovacs came through with a clutch throw on his last attempt (in terrible conditions) to take the silver.

USA just missed on gold in the mix 4x4 to the Dutch who subbed in Famke Bol and she responded with a high 47 anchor leg. Bol is Sydney's primary challenger in the 400 hurdles. Can't wait to see these two go at it because another wr may be in the cards

McLaughlin and Bol easily win their opening heat this morning in the 400 H

Mens semi for the dash at 205 and the final at 350

Also this afternoon is the 1500 semifinals. Ingebrigsten and Kerr ( the 2 favorites for gold) are in the same heat these two can't stand each other. American Cole Hocker (also a threat to medal)is also in their heat. Can't wait to see how both heats shake out.

All 3 Americans including Lyles into the final, watch out for Jamaica though as they get 2 into the final as well and looked fast in the semis
