Noah Lyles won bronze in the 200M despite having COVID. That might be even more impressive than having won the 100/200 double had he been heathy.

Crazy how the world has changed. If Lyles had run with Covid a few years back he would have been crucified. Lewis Johnson wouldn't have gotten within 20 feet of him post-race. Now he just masks up and goes out runs a race.
But yeah, impressive performance and a real bummer to have that interfere.

And I just want to say I'm loving the vibes of these Olympics. Country is most divided it's been in my lifetime but for a few weeks at least I can watch athletes of all size, age, color, gender, etc. support one another. Loving the unity that Snoop is trying to bring. I'm sure it will be short-lived as this wretched election season ramps up even more but this little reprieve has been good for the soul.

Men's 4x400 advanced to the final. Local phenom Quincy Wilson ran leadoff and unfortunately did not run well at all his split was over 3 seconds slower than what he ran a few weeks ago in an open 4. Credit to the other 3 guys on the team who bailed him out and rallied the USA from last to a spot in the finals. Not sure if he's sick, injured, or the moment got to him but he's capable of much better. Having said that though, I'm not so sure the USA will use him for the final after that performance.

USA has a long history of blowing it in the 4x100. Last gold for the men was in 2000

Too lazy to click on the link I'll summarize. The top 4 finishers from the Olympic 1500 will go at it again in Zurich on September 6th. A few things different this time, not only will there be rabbits/pacers, but there will be wavelight technology. The light is literally at track level and will be a the wr pace so you know exactly where you are in relation to the wr pace (think ghost mode in mario kart). A couple of quick thoughts. Pacers are great in helping runners to a fast possibly world record setting time. This setup is favorable to Ingebrigtsen who wan in the 3:26's a few weeks prior to Paris with the help of pacers. The olympic final he had to do it on his own and we saw how that worked out. Secondly, this meet is coming a month after the Olympics. While the top 4 can and should run incredibly fast, it won't be easy. Distance runners can only peak a few times each season and even then they can only hold their peak for a short period of time. I'll be interested to see how they all look in this race.
