Mayo is back in action. Played with Frederick last night. Not sure when he'll rejoin Norfolk, but the Tides return from a road trip tonight so maybe this weekend.

45 days or 130 at bats. When could he be called up and still be eligible for ROY next year? Mid August?

If he can play 3B then there is a path. But it's not a wide opening because youd be losing something defensively (maybe a lot) and both Mateo and Urias are hitting solidly so not like there is a big offensive hole.I just dont see the room at this moment without an injury. The Os really could move a bat in a contender for contender trade. You could trade Mounty in the right deal. I dont expect that but it is feasible.
I don't wanna hold him back until late August, but they frankly might not need him yet. Main reason to call him up sooner would be so that his struggle adjustment period happens in July instead of September.

I strongly prefer Westy at 3b. Especially with Mateo playing a good defensive 2b and hitting well enough. Urias fits as a uti guy the best. You def can make room but the depth currently here is legit. And its nothing against Mayo. If they really wanna start working him in a bit they could demote Kjersted again and give Mayo the reps. But they need to give Kjersted some extended run for nowIf he can play 3B then there is a path. Hays is the ideal guy to go. Mayo can fill in at 3B/RF/1B/DH, rotate between Mullins, Santander, Cowser, and Kjerstad in the OF. If not Hays then Urias. Trade one of those guys for a reliever.

Has Mayo played any OF yet. Cant see him getting reps there in the show without doing it at AAA
Practiced there all offseason and during the season, no games tho.

What kind of reliever are you going to get for Hays or Urias? A guy with an ERA of six?

A fringe starter position player gets you a solid middle reliever generally speaking. A $5M free agent kind of player. Solid middle relievers sometimes stink (Givens last year) and sometimes are excellent (Coulombe last year).

I'd be surprised if we can find such a swap, but maybe a 3-team trade it could work.

MR with upside or a lottery ticket lower minors guy maybe? Obviously easier said than done.

Would rather just promote Gonzalez from AAA. He's been killing it down there. Give him a chance and see if he can do it up here.
