The talent just doesnt go away. Not at 23
Sure.
Assuming his body still works as well as it did following a major heart issue that took eighteen months to resolve.
Assuming he can get back his hand-eye coordination which he hasn't been able to hone in 2 years.
Assuming the strength and bat speed are still there after 2 full years off.
If everything goes perfectly he'll be a 27 year old rookie.
I'm rooting for the kid but he needs to be looked at as though he's a lottery ticket with the slimmest of chances to return anything.

Had an RBI groundout his first AB. Due up here again in the bottom of the 3rd. This game is available on MILB.TV for those who have it.

Struck out on a pretty good curve ball in his 2nd AB.

Anyone else of note at Delmarva right now? Some dreadful numbers up and down the roster, lol.
Carter Baumler
Creed Willems
Bencosme
Pretty young roster

I only know that they brought a crop of international players up there this season, so in addition to adjusting to a new league you also have a bunch of guys adjusting to living in a new country and trying to learn a new language.

This plus they are a super young team. Has to be the youngest Delmarva roster ever. Plenty of talent there, just might take some time to see it in the numbers.I only know that they brought a crop of international players up there this season, so in addition to adjusting to a new league you also have a bunch of guys adjusting to living in a new country and trying to learn a new language.
Early standouts:
Carter Baumler
Juan De Los Santos
Trendon Craig
Frederick Bencosme
Isaac Bellony (promoted to Aberdeen yesterday)
Elio Prado
Isaac De Leon is batting .190 but has a 22.6% walk rate giving him a 108 wRC+ as a 20 year old shortstop.
Mishael Deson has all the tools and upside in the world as a 19 year old center fielder but still needs to grow into his body and skill set.
Creed Willems is a natural born leader behind the plate and learning to catch a pitching staff with a language barrier at 19 years old. Big raw power, incredible arm to gun down runners with.
Luis Valdez isn’t a prospect but is fast as lightning and has 30 steals.

I think for more casual fans, the Shorebirds roster is only especially interesting compared to Aberdeen/Bowie/Norfolk is when everyone from that year's draft is on the roster and getting their first professional games. Cowser's first game at Delmarva was August 17th so I'd assume it'll be around that date for this year's draft.

Yeah, tune up in the FCL before going to Delmarva for the last month or so of the season.

...move him up!
I think we should not do the 'prospect watch' thing with him. He's not needed. He really just needs time. We can certainly pay attention to his performance, but if he plays a full season at AA next year, that's good.
The earliest we should be talking about him in the Majors is September of 2024. It's not even about performance, it's just getting reps and being healthy and trying to find a groove. If his time comes, great.

I agree, if he’s mostly healthy this year and next that’s a win. He will perform or he won’t of course, but he just needs to get PAs at this point and we’ll go from there.

3-for-5 with 2 doubles tonight, definitely nice to see him hit the ground running after waiting so long
