He was my favorite player for a long time. I also lived out there for most of his career, so I became more familiar with his family than most. This is pretty devastating. Best wishes to the remaining family. An unspeakably difficult time for Vanessa and the other daughters.

ESPN also just reported that his daughter Gianna Bryant was on the helicopter.

I didn’t know they were so close...although I’m not surprised.
Outside of Jordan, Kobe may be the most looked up to player in the NBA in the last 20-30 years.

I was talking with my brother in law, who is a helicopter pilot and teacher and he said it’s highly likely this was pilot error.
Probably did not plan properly for the fog and basically panicked.
