Locksley sent up the bat signal earlier today, sounds like it could be 3-star DE Darrell Jackson (Havana, FL). He decommitted from Tennessee a few days ago and has been trending towards Maryland.
There appear to be a couple opinions coming in today on 24x7, including Jeff Ermann, that they might be on the verge of flipping Branden Jennings, a 4-star ILB from Florida currently committed to Michigan. Jennings was also committed to Florida St before that, so he seems to have trouble making his final decision.

With Jackson's commitment, Maryland's 2021 recruiting class ranks #22 in the country and #6 in the Big Ten.
If Jennings were to commit, the class would jump into the Top 20 nationally.

5-star LB Terrence Lewis (Opa Locka, FL) has narrowed his final two schools to Tennessee and Maryland. He's the #1 ILB in the 2021 recruiting cycle and was widely expected to commit to Auburn, but Gus Malzahn's firing seems to have changed things. He decommitted from Tennessee two weeks ago and the Terps weren't even thought to be on his radar, but defensive line coach Brian Williams has roots in South Florida and seems to have developed a relationship with him.
He'll be making his final decision on January 2nd.

Jennings will be committing tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM ET. Maryland has made an excellent late push, and they have a real shot to land him.

Seems like safeties are basically ideal midfielders.DB Dante Trader, Jr. also signed with the lacrosse team, and will play both sports at Maryland.
I'm not surprised that their aren't more football/lacrosse dual athletes because of the demographics, but physicality-wise its gotta be the most closely correlated. I think if lacrosse picks up popularity in the areas where so many football players come from you could see a lot more.

3-star LB Bam Booker is now expected to gray-shirt, so he won't be on scholarship until Spring 2022.
Biggest targets still out there for Maryland:
- 5-star LB Terrence Lewis (Opa Locka, FL)
- 4-star ATH Titus Mokiao-Atimalala (Ewa Beach, HI)
- 4-star ATH Charles Montgomery (Valrico, FL) -- Committed to Florida
- 3-star T Austin Barber (Jacksonville, FL)
- 3-star T Austin Uke (Dallas, TX)
- 3-star C Michael Myslinski (Jacksonville, FL)
- 3-star CB Phillip O'Brien, Jr. (Deerfield Beach, FL) -- Committed to Auburn

Did Maryland high school football have any standouts?
I suspect as usual, they dont stay home and play for Maryland.

I'd suggest you check out Pat's article. Maryland landed the #3 player in the state this year, and 5 of the Top 25 players in the state. They also landed the #2, #4, and #6 players in D.C.

Looks like we actually got 4 of the top 20 in the state, including #3. Top actual MD recruit comes in at #50 nationally, OT from Good Counsel. But there was that QB from DC and an OT from Fairfax that both went to Oklahoma I think. If you are viewing the whole DMV as our playground, those two are misses too, both 5 star.

Through the years, the complaint about Maryland Football program regardless who whom is their coach, has been their inability to recruit local boys to play home.
You arent going to keep Penn Boys from Penn State, and Virginia Boys from Virginia State.

If you look at this year, none of the Top 5 players from Pennsylvania stayed in-state and only one of the Top 5 players from Virginia did so. So if you lump MD and DC together, Maryland did much better keeping top talent home in this recruiting cycle than any of the schools in PA or VA.
And since they're a D-II school, I don't think Maryland will have much trouble keeping kids away from Virginia State.

Yeah but that's why they got Locksley. He was the one stealing local talent for Alabama. Franklin was stealing it for a while, he's also been big in this area, and it's where MD screwed up before going for coaches, but not recruiters.
This year, and really 2022 were the big ones to see cause that's when he's had enough time to get guys that were completely uncommitted to places. Locks tweeted something out this morning kinda cryptic talking about '22 so something tells me next year's class is going to be a big one.

Class already in good shape obviously.
Now Locksley is in good position to just add. Definitely what you want.
Then fully on to '22, and stacking classes.
