ESPNRockies place Nolan Arenado on DL

The Rockies placed Arenado on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, one day after he broke his left middle finger on a head-first slide into second base. The team recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Dammit, Dammit, dammit.

If y'all haven't seen that kid play third base, you're missing out. He and Manny are neck and neck for best defensive 3B in the game.

@jonmorosi Rockies acknowledging 3B Nolan Arenado could be out until late June or early July with a broken finger.

Well, as usual injuries have caught up to the Rockies..Arenado, CarGo, and now Lyles to the DL...It's only a matter of time until Tulo gets hurt too. A shame, as he might be the best player in the league when healthy.

I almost said the same thing a week ago, but was afraid Seth would take it the wrong way.

It's just weird how every year, half the team gets hurt. Doesn't make any sense.

It was seriously an amazing play. Just ridiculous.

Did you stay up for the conclusion of the game after you got back from the O's game?

Well, of course.

I mean, it'd be bigger if the teams weren't a combined 598 games out, but we have fun with it!

ESPNTroy Tulowitzki calls for swift change

"I think that's why I came out numerous times and said I want to win," said Tulowitzki, who holds a large lead in the NL batting race with a .340 average. "It doesn't mean I want out of here. It means I'm sick and tired of losing."

"I don't see any quit," Tulowitzki said. "They come out here and play hard every single day. We've had some deficits we've overcome. And I think we would have (team) meetings if we didn't sense that. We're playing hard. And (manager) Walt (Weiss) has said the same thing."

And we have a Don't NOT quitting alert

This season has been a complete wash due to the injuries.

They were tied for first on May 10th, and then it all fell apart. Arenando, Cuddyer, Morneau, CarGo, Tulo, Lyles, Chatwood, Chacin, and Rosario have all spent time on the DL since. That's why they didn't move anyone at the deadline. It's not the Phillies situation or anything.

With Gray and Butler on the horizon, they're a candidate for a huge jump next year.

I know the owner and the GM aren't on the same page, so I'm guessing there's going to be a change there. Weiss should be safe given the injuries this year.

The owner(s) who won't make any significant changes to the front office? The owner who told fans he didn't want to switch things up in this aspect? Dan O'Dowd needs to be gone. They can do all the "layering" or "restructuring" they want but they need some fresh faces.

In terms of injuries, Tulo/CarGo get injured a lot. Injuries happen. I get that they get hurt more than most in this aspect, but the Dodgers/Giants are clearly better IMO. I'm not going to say they were ahead for month of the season. The O's were also good in 2005 at the beginning.

I know you're high on the Rockies.

Yes, the Dodgers and Giants are clearly better, not questioning that. Injuries have been a major factor in their collapse this year. Fresh start next year, we'll see how it goes.

Not sure how "fresh" of a start they'll have next year if the Monforts, O'Dowd, Geavitt, and Weiss are all back. September/October 2007 was magical -- as much fun as I've had cheering on a baseball team not the named the O's -- but that was also 7+ years now.
