Not sure how "fresh" of a start they'll have next year if the Monforts, O'Dowd, Geavitt, and Weiss are all back. September/October 2007 was magical -- as much fun as I've had cheering on a baseball team not the named the O's -- but that was also 7+ years now.

I do agree there might have to be a change at the GM spot.

Weiss is in zero danger. Clearly, anyone who thinks otherwise ins't paying attention to this season.

Shouldn't a new GM be allowed to hire his own person in this case? Is Weiss some great commodity?

Fair..

My only point on Weiss is that no one is blaming him for the teams record this year...That being said, sure, a new GM should be allowed to bring in "his guy". given Weiss popularity as a former beloved player there, I would think he'd be given a bigger leash by ownership.

Denver Post: Dan O'Dowd, Bill Geivett resign from Colorado Rockies; Jeff Bridich new GM

O'Dowd leaves with a 1,129-1,302 record, a winning percentage of .464. Only Baltimore (.456), Pittsbugh (.441) and Kansas City (.435) have been worse over that time.

Damn, it's "Rockies are the sleeper team" time of year again already? The winter's moving faster than I thought.

They're honestly the strangest team in the league. Top 3-5 offensive (if Tulo and CarGo are healthy) and defensive team( ESPN sweet spot had them #1 in fact), but easily #30 in pitching.

A few trades for some starters would do them well.

Blackmon for Miguel Gonzalez would be a nice start.

Great. Now Tulo and Gonzalez are going to miss the next five months after suffering a tragic toenail-clipping accident, or something.

According to Morosi, the O's and Rockies had ongoing trade talks on COL OFers. With the Parra signing, maybe a trade is in the works?

Is also being discussed in the CD thread.  I am not a fan of spending meaningful resources on Colorado bats.
