Surprised. Deeserving of a demotion but I really thought they would keep him in the rotation and let him grind through his issues. How many option years does he have left?

All 3 according to Fangraphs. If he's down for fewer than 20 days, then he won't use an option this year either.
This move surprises me, too. To me it says they think there is either something specific they want him to fix. No idea what that might be or if it's a physical or mental thing.

Yeah, maybe he got his mechanics out of whack trying to fix his tipping issues. He's allowed 31 hits in his last 15 innings, wow.
Like we were talking about above, he isn't really good enough to make do at MLB when he's not at his best, so maybe better to try and work things out in a lower pressure environment instead of getting killed every few days.

He was serviceable to good for like half his starts last year too, not really in any particular order. I tend to think he just has a really fine line for success, not that he was necessarily figured out. Even if he wasn't tipping he could definitely have changed things trying to fix a problem, and made things worse.
I guess we'll find out when we see if he can ever recreate his serviceable times again.

I asked about his service time because I could see the Os keeping him on the 40 man as a serviceable spot starter- long man that can be optioned. Now, the roster crunch could easily get him as well. Pitchers go into funks but I agree with Mak that there is a fine line for Bruce. I am not sure he was tipping pitches, as much as there does not seem to be enough difference between his change and fast ball. His change was sitting at 85 and the fastball at 90-91 his last start. He also seems to be having a problem with getting the ball down.
Bruce is going to get another shot in the rotation. The Orioles really have no other options.

Back up. Sulser optioned. He did fine at Norfolk after a terrible 1st inning. Hopefully he fixed whatever happened to him.
Hyde said he'll be in the pen cause they're pretty taxed.

Welcome back to Baltimore’s own Bruce Zimmerman.
He replaces Givens who is placed on the IL.
