Baumann could be here going forward. O'Hearn and Zimmermann, probably not.
More than likely correct, but O'Hearn might be the type that is kept to use against right-handed pitching as a spot starter and pinch hitter.

Only Dean Kremer remains from that disastrous 2018 trade deadline.

Hey we still have the 2019 international bonus slugs! Can't do anything with them, but we never used them so they still exist, right?

Still got my fingers crossed for those Cuban brothers!
Victor Mesa Jr. made it to AAA last year and still has a shot.
Victor Victor Mesa is probably done I guess, didn't play last year. Had a 506 OPS in AAA and 486 in AA and is 28 now.

DD was basically checked out after the Toronto debacle and absolutely knew his time had to be up after 2018, so I can't imagine he cared much of the returns of whatever he traded.
Granted, you don't expect to get rich from deadline fire sales. What did we get from 2000? Mora? Chris Richard?
Machado deal didn't look horrible on paper, Diaz was a very good prospect. Got Villar for Schoop and Villar had a very good 2019. The Atlanta deals were atrocious, though.
I don't think he was checked out as much as the family and Buck took all the control after Toronto.

I think there was also a lot of interference from not only Peter Angelos, but also Buck and Brady after Dan's flirtation with Toronto following the 2014 season. It's tough to make deals with other teams when they're not sure who is really responsible for making the decisions.
Dan emptied the farm trying to win, and he almost did in 2014, but it wasn't sustainable afterward as he had few cards to play by that point. There simply weren't going to be any more Andrew Miller-type deals to be made because he just didn't have enough to land another player like that.

Honestly think Manny for Dean is still a pretty nice piece of business when it was a 2-month rental where it wasn't like the Orioles had any chance to posture that they weren't going to move him to try to improve their return

This just reminds me how annoying it was that we added injured and expensive O’Day to the deal and took less. Sums up the Angelos era nicely.
Didn't he go to Atlanta in the Gausman trade?

For Zimmermann… but yes I changed the subject back to the subject.

Yeah, very weird dynamic with DD as GM, Buck as manager / wannabe GM, and Brady as unofficial trainer / wannabe GM.
This is the post 2014 debacle. DD thought he was going to TOR, the Orioles (PGA) are arrogant and this was the catalyst for John to come back in from exile. You have a power struggle (Buck, Brady, John, Lou) and DD wasn't in it in the sense that he was making any decisions.

My favorite DD acquisition was the New Zealand softball player (Pita Rona).
Good news! I saw a dog today.
